The Hateful Raid Information

Baracko

Recommended Posts

START DATE: Tuesday, January 6th 2009

Time

Tuesday 8-11 server (Naxx 1)

Thursday 8-11 (Naxx 2)

Sunday 8-11 ( Dragons ) ** This may change as we get more efficient! **

Penalties:

- There will be a -15 dkp penalty for being late without notice or not showing at all without notice or good explanation. Being Late = not being in the raid, at the instance, ready to pull at the 8:00 PM start time.

- As with the last raid, not show up to a raid you are rostered in advance for without reason 3 times, and we will replace you ASAP.

Organization

Much like last time, Cal (Zuworty) and I will be team-leading the raid. Ill be handling most of the organizational stuff while Cal will handle the in-raid strategy, pulling, and most of the marking. It worked well last time, and plays to our personal strengths. In case of any disputes, Ill have the final say if it gets that bad! ;p

Your healing team leads are Kadiana and Uglutz. They'll supervise the healers on any given night and help organize those rotations beyond what Cal has laid out strategically.

We aren't perfect, so bear with us. We research and plan in our spare time beyond the normal raiding responsibilities.

Makeup

The Current roster, group makeups for a given night, and attendance tracking can be found here: RAWR!

** Please note ** After some deliberation and some changes in class by many of our members, Cal and I have decided to go back to the 25 man format. However, because we promised slots to folks before this change, we will still have rotations as needed to cycle the current roster. Due to some class limitations, some may be cycled out more than others. Due to the fact there are only 2 EXTRAS, the number of times you'll sit will be few and far between. As people leave the raid for various and sundry reasons, as they often do, we'll trim to 25 and keep it there with replacements on hand to help. Should this become a problem due to people causing a fuss, we'll trim the roster down ASAP based on availability, and that will be the end of it. Lets all be nice, understanding, and have a good time! ;p

DKP

The Main DKP list can be found here: DKP

In-game Calendar

We will be using the in-game calendar to help organize the raid, as it eases the invite process and can help us track when someone cant make it unexpectedly.

What the different status terms in the calendar mean in terms of the raid:

Invited = Just what it says ;p

Accepted = You're available to run that night and have agreed to go.

Confirmed = You are approved for that night's roster.

Standby = You are not approved for that night's roster, as you may have been asked to sit out or for another reason. However, if you show up at the beginning, and are available for 30 mins past start time, you will get full dkp for the evening. You must be free for the first 30 minutes of the raid. This is the small price you pay for getting a nights worth of dkp.

** If you do not accept an invite by 24 hrs. before the raid, it will be assumed you are not coming, and you will be replaced for that evening **

To cancel for a raid, please do the following:

>24 hrs. Notice --> Please mark yourself as declined on the calendar and send an ingame mail to Baracko.

<24 hrs. notice --> send an email to Baracko at the address given inraid.

** Failure to notify will result in DKP loss **

Raid Statistics

Stats from previous runs can be found here: Kailand's Statistics Page

These are normally updated within 24-48 hours of the last raid. Thanks to Kailand for handling this for us! Happy Birthday!

The Raid Bank

Current Raid bank = 4900 Gold

We have various mats built up, including old epic gems for those pieces you don't plan on keeping very long.

- Abyss Crystals will currently be priced at 20dkp.

Why charge dkp for Abyss crystals? A normal purple goes for anywhere from 90-175dkp. 20 is a small price to pay for the 1 shard we get from each DE'd purple. Plus, it stirs the dkp pot, as it were.

- They must be used for the raid only! Please do not be using the mat pool to enchant up your PvP loot, etc.

- To request an abyss crystal, either ask Zuworty patiently after the raid, or send an in-game mail to him.

Good Luck, and lets kick some butt in there!

- Baracko, your team raidleader

There are a few of you with concerns about Sunday. However, I'm going to leave the schedule as is for now. We should have enough people to fill the roster on those nights.

I'm loathe to eat up another weeknight for major, all-out raiding. Likewise, I think we need to reserve what social lives we have, so Id rather not use Friday or Saturday either.

Says the person who wanted to raid last Friday! Happy Birthday!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give everyone a short reminder, a lot of Crushers are quickly signing up for various 25man runs. There are currently 2 runs being organised; this one that Baracko and I are building together as well as Maube's Wednesday Sartherion run. In the hopes of providing solid rosters to both of these raids I urge players to please take a look at the Maube's post concerning the other 25man raid "Maube's Raid". Please verify your availability prior to commiting to either of these.

Obviously 2x 25man raids will mean that both groups will have to work together to provide the best possible raiding opportunities for all Crushers alike and we will likely need to pull resources from other friendly guilds.

Regards,

Cal (aka Zuworty)

*nods at Cal* I talked to Baracko today. I didn't understand that "the dragons" meant the Obsidian Sanctum. I signed up for your raid. I'll be there.

Update for 1/12/09:

- DKP link added! ... thought it was already there...

** Note: There are still one or two errors there to fix as Cal and I work out the bugs with the mod and me using it. You may see some fluctuation.

- Frost Resist! GET IT!

- Remember the queues, folks! Log on in advance! Lateness and consumable docks start in 1 week. Be prepared!

- Do some work outside the raid! Get rid of those GREENS - the raid is not the only place to gear up right now, so get on it! Enchants, too!

*Cracks the whip* Its more fun when we kick ass, and we kick more ass when we're prepared!

Great Job last night! One shotting Heigan on the first night there is a good thing! Congratulations to Kadi and Kalea for lasting all of five seconds... I guess we could consider the room one big volcano if it will make you feel better! ;p

I see my dps is pretty much near the bottom on the statistics page. I honestly don't know what else to do (enchanted everything and beefing up +hit)

I'll have to give up my afk addiction I guess...

My boots still have to be gemmed since I won them last night but does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey Orcala,

I'm not sure if you read the ElitistJerks forums at all (I'd recommend it for any class), they have a good post about cat DPS.

http://elitistjerks.com/f73/t37382-cat_dps_rotation/

(They even include a good sample build which looks similar to yours with a few subtle differences -- Mind you, when choosing talents I usually go for the strict DPS increase talents instead of those that give debuffs such as stun...)

As for hit cap, I'm not too sure how it works any more for the melee folks. According to wowwiki they seem to suggest 262 or 295 (maybe someone else could clarify this).

If you need advice with regards to what gear to bid on, I suggest you look at www.lootrank.com. In the top right corner they allow you to select a template based on your class and spec that is applied to item computations. It spits out an ordered list of items based on the relative dps each item would give you. (Take the list with a grain of salt, but it's an excellent starting point for people looking to get more info on which gear they should be aiming for).

Hit cap for physical DPS melee is 8%, with dual wield at 27%. Comparing Orcala to Eigun talent wise, there isn't much of a difference, and I am no expert on druids, but your rotation looks similar to eiguns from WWS (although with more deaths ;)), it just seems to be that he outgears you (more AP and Crit). Both of you appear to be above the expertise cap (6.5%). It just looks like something that will be fixed with gear over time, and if you want to min/max some more, do what cal suggests above and visit elitist jerks (their forums are nicely organised but a pain in the ass to sift through posts for that nugget of info sometimes).

Thanks guys! I found out the hit cap for druids against a level 83 mob is 262.32 so i'll try for that. Also this thread was helpful on the WoW official class forums:

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.h...76427&sid=1

Looks like my dps rotation is spot on its just gear/pots (need to farm more)

Here you go Eigun in case you haven't seen the thread>>

The order of importance for your DPS bleeds // Debuffs are as follows:

-Savage Roar (This is a combo point move and usually gets put up immediately and is usually efficient with 2-5 combo points)

-Mangle (You need this mostly for the debuff not for the damage as it is less DPE than shred, If there is an Arms warrior in the raid with trauma you should find you seldom click this button)

-Rip (Major combo point bleed but you need points to use it, use at 4+ for best results.)

-Rake (This is your major bleed, be sure that it FALLS OFF so you get the last tic or you are wasting energy and the DPE for this move is decreased thereby decreasing your DPS, but be sure to refresh it as soon as it falls off)

-FFF (Obviously this helps DPS because it reduces armor therefore your shreds do more damage)

hrm... I think that a sunder armor stack or an expose armor works out better, and I don't think they stack with fearie fire, so it's probably better to have malystryx apply the sunder stack when he is around, or have a rogue do a 5 combo point expose armor.

***

hrm, upon more reading appaerantly fearie fire stacks with sunder armor/expose armor, but not with curse of recklessness and wasp armor debuff....

Well, for starters, once you get the two piece T7 bonus as well as the glyph of rip, it becomes a little bit easier to keep up SR and Rip at all times.

Keep in mind that it is generally accepted that maximizing kitty dps is more difficult to do then it is for other classes. A combination of strange gearing plus a complicated rotation makes things way trickier then they used to be. Furthermore, we can't just stick to stacking agility like we used to.

So, bottom line is... don't worry! You really aren't very far behind me at all, and gearing can explain that. And being dead for an entire fight. Plus the fart cloud fight you got the unlucky stick several times. So add that up and you're right in the middle of the mix.

Good thing I bid on the T7 chest last night, with the new upgrades if I still lack DPS... it's Holy's fault for making me do the dishes.

*wipes a tear* Ahh, its so good to see you both working on this! Orcala, I think you really are on the right track... your dps has improved somewhat over the past week, and that makes a raidleader VERY happy! ;p

Another idea to add to the discussion, that is pretty self-explanatory:

One thing Ive learned in my short raiding time as DPS is that "time in battle" is key, especially on trash. Some folks wait a long time to engage... you multiply that by umpteen trash battles or bosses in an instance, and it can equal alot of lost dps time.

My point is this - we joke with you about the afk's, but I think if you could focus more during our 3 hours, your output would increase alot. Couple that with changes Eigun and others are suggesting to gearing and really maximizing your rotation, and I think you could be a force to reckon with.

NOTE: Engaging quickly has its disadvantages! Hence my often early deaths ;p Most times, though, I find the group falls into a rhythm and I barely have to look at the threatmeter to know when its safe to dps. Just keep an eye on it till you feel more comfortable.... correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Druid dps is that bursty, so you may not even have this issue.

Good job, Orcala! ;p
