  1. I wish I had a backyard like yours Kalea with palm trees and whatnot! No you don't Orcala, trust me. They may look cute but they're a pain in the ass to deal with, particularly as they grow older.
  2. In other words, Blizzard has told everyone who doesn't enjoy deathmatching to go DIAF, at least until/if they change the set-up with a later season. I just don't understand that. If they're going to have a full three tiers of gear the beginning anyway, I see zero reason they can't have one of them be available to people who prefer to do objective-based PvP. I suppose they figure we can just try and get items by killing Archaevon every week.
  3. Eberyash gruk dat Greatfather Winter be ash urk. 'tupid cow. Well, mebbe dem elbzies agh dorfs nub gruk but what ken lat expect frum doze yunger races?
  4. I'm sorry Elrikk, but I already did the sort. If I get enough other late-comers I'll do another smaller batch but I think most people with any interest in participating signed up earlier. If I do get enough for another group, I'll send them out at the end of the week. If I wait any later, I won't give people enough time to think about the gift, get it, and send it for distribution.
  5. Assignments have been made and sent to each participant via in-game mail. I sent them all to the characters who were, as best I could determine, their players' mains. If you signed up and don't see a letter from Scryll then check your alts. Please mail the gifts to Scryll *preferably wrapped* no later than the evening on Christmas Eve, so I can forward them to Greatfather Winter for delivery. Include the name of the recipient and any special instructions *like if you want them to go to an alt instead of your giftee's main* If you have any questions, message me on here or in-game.

    PTR is up!

This makes me cry bitter, bitter tears. Of course, I happen to be USING one of those that is on the 'nerf' list... *sigh* So leave Holy out high and dry and upgrade to a titansteel!
  7. Huh. I could actually get rid of that damned annoying slouch Scryll has. All I have to do is completely emasculate him.
  8. So you're saying Gabe is happier when he's not looking at you? (ducks)
  9. Well, another Winter's Veil season is upon us. I do no know who has plans for parties, black-tie balls, or other events this year. I know only one thing. Scryll has gotten hold of Aleis' Red Winter Hat this year and is organizing the Gifts of Greatfather Winter. In past years we've done our Gifts at the party but since I'm not organizing one and I haven't seen anyone else talking about organizing one, I'm taking the Gifts in a slightly different direction this year. During the quiet early morning on Winter's Veil Day itself, Greatfather Winter will, with the help of Smokeywood Pastures, mail gifts to all participating Clan members. Those who want to participate, please send me your names, either in this thread, in a PM, or via in-game mail. Please just don't whisper me because I can't guarantee I'll be able to keep those straight on my hard-copy list. I will finish taking all the names and assign you your giftee ten days from now, on the 13th. Select the gift and send it back to me *preferably already wrapped* with a repeat of who the gift is for. I will forward the gifts to Greatfather Winter and he will send them out for surprised and delighted 'Crushers to find in their mailboxes on the 25th.
  10. Besides, putting it on your keychain makes it look like a binky. Unlike your bottle-opener which doesn't look like a binky but is one. And it just screams addict.
  11. My turn. I'm thinking of finally replacing my near-senescent machine. Unfortunately I have a fairly limited budget to work with, in the order of 4-600 bucks. I know, from browsing Dell's website as a price benchmark, that I can get some fairly limited Inspiron dual-core setups with that, but it would probably only with about 2gigs of RAM. And at least from Dell, it would have to run Vista *ugh* I've still got my XP Professional license with a couple of installs left on it. Professional can handle dual-cores right, even if it's 32bit and not 64? My bug-squashing book on my OS says it's supposed to able to hand more than 2GB of RAM, but I've heard that's actually a lie. If I upgraded, would I actually be able to just use my current license, or do I have to go out and buy a new one? If I do buy a new one, I might as well end up buying a Vista that's 64bit, it would be cheaper. In which case, what are the minimum recommended specs I should be looking for? And where would it leave me standing with my current video and sound cards *an Nvida GeForce 6200 and Creative Audigy 2, respectively*?

    Hacked

Sure there are logs, but they're REALLY extensive. They take time to go through, even if you can give them minute-level precision, much less a period of hours. And there are only so many people to cover all of the petitions. And no, they won't give you game-time credit for the period your account has been hacked.
  13. That, my dear, is why I play alts I confess, I am deliberately racing a bit. I hate being part of the Great Wave because the competition drives me absolutely bonkers. So I have to be either ahead of it or behind it, and I frankly don't derive much satisfaction from being behind it. That can pose its own problems. I just hit 76 and Zul'drak is starting to make me feel the burn though, I don't know if I'm going to be able to keep it up. In no ways am I tired of the game, just my own pace a bit. I may haul off tomorrow or the next day and tool around fishing or getting a leisurely start on one of the alts. Or maybe a night's sleep and the morning shift at work will be a breather and I'll come back revitalized. I do kinda want to get in all these group quests I've been skipping but I'm my own worst enemy there. Very picky about who I group with, don't want to pug at all. And no one in guild seems to be asking for help in doing them when I'm around, or responding to my own requests. I also want to get some of the instances done but it always seems like a bad time for me when one gets going.
  14. Xenojin, Remmetta, or Harne are all pretty much keeping pace with each other. 4th looks like it's going to be Tyrandius. He's almost caught up with ME already, and there are only 1 or 2 people besides the three above who are really ahead of me and not working the same part of the curve I am.
  15. What Kalea said. Please go get some sleep man.
  16. Da camp iz nub gunna be da same with lat nub riding in fer da occashunal visit. We will miss lat, Zeb.

Hey, you only met the bald one at 9. You met my shining top at 40, and by now everyone's heard and is tired of my Arixah sap story Is anyone other old timer boggled that she is widely considered one of the two two or three rogues on our server these days?
  18. You were stepping on gnomes? So that's what happened to all the voodoo gnomes we were supposed to get. Damn you, homewrecker!

  20. I'm never going to the lumber mill again.
  21. I'll have to log in myself. There are some last minute tests I wanted to run on Greenspring anyway.

Things I do to improve my system performance in raids to the level of barely tolerable: Turn off software that runs in the background. This includes my spyware and anti-virus software. That's a risk, but I regularly run scans *including online scanners like Trend Micro's Housecall, to catch things that have blinded my local software* and don't engage in risky browsing. So far, it hasn't bitten me in the ass. Do remember to turn them back on when you're done raiding. There's also plenty of non-critical software that likes to run in the background, doing anything from constantly pinging the central office for updates to engaging in its own rendition of spyware. There's no reason to let that stuff run in the background, turn it all off. I've noticed that Skype's a big resource hog, if you can keep it turned off while playing, you should. Keep your computer clean of any malware. Quite capable of sucking up resources even when your system says it can't find anything sucking up your resources. Use your system tools to keep your drives defragmented and in good electronic condition. Turn off any mods that are not critical to your raiding. They also suck up system resources and you're not making use of them. This frankly includes so-called raid mods like loot-lists, instance maps, etc. They're not important to the fight and hence they can be done without. You might also delete and recreate your WTF folder. That'll clean out old add-ons and other modifications that the client is constantly checking to see if they're there. You're already playing with video effects at a minimum, are you also playing in windowed mode? I find I can generally eke out another frame or two in non-windowed mode, but since one of the post 2.2 patches, running in non-windowed mode also make TS even worse for me than my voice is for any of you. Completely unusable.
