  1. Ug! I wanted to let you all know that I will not be able to play WoW immediately. I'm not sure if/when I will be joining you all in game, so I will not remain as an active member. (Which is hardly an accurate term anyway, I haven't been very active in quite some time.) But I will miss the times I knew we would've had, and hope to join you all at a later date. Good luck, Skullcrushers! Huzzah! Gug'ye, ~Glok'tur
  2. I've been playing around with the characters on the server Ysera. I will make my orc on your server now though. Are you guys role-playing it already? I will do so just incase, except private messages. Hopefully see you ingame soon! ~Glok

Those kinds of RP stories can be fun. But it's rare you get a decent one. Perhaps this isn't necessary here, but on most forums that attempt that kind of RP threading a fulltime moderator is required to keep lamers out and correct spelling/wording errors. =) ~Glok
  4. I will go ahead and say what Balandar and Martok have not, in my own words, granted. The PhM and Blagtoof are what I like to call RP Nazis, a term I've used before as you probably remember. Nothing against them personally, infact that strict kind of roleplay can be fun at times. The problem is; who's to say that your way is the 100% right way and everyone else is null and should be subjucated? Again I have nothing personal against either of those guilds, infact I admire both Grishnak and Rakknar for their perspective and input through Only-WoW. I just don't care to deal with them very much, if at all, upon the actual roleplaying stage. (Ie: in character, in game) ~Glok'tur (P.s., If I were to take the time, I could actually quote Lord Rakknar from a post on the OW forums in response to a discussion in which I mentioned "RP Nazis." He stated near-humorously that he infact might be labled as such, but didn't care.)
  5. I am in agreeance with Balandar, with the same ideas and hopes in mind. ~Glok
  6. Yes, SoC is a pure-RP guild. I second Rhoach's advice, you will learn all you need to know there. As for what draws me personally to WoW? Well, the fact the Blizzard is argueably the best gaming company, which doesn't mean most successful as they are rather small and their game output is rather low, but every game they have put on the market is excellent. The best games that there are, in their respective genres. Blizzard has remove the NDA for their beta, so there is a boatload of information about the game out there, and it looks and sounds awesome. Every beta tester I have talked with or read their reviews has said it's the best MMORPG they have ever played. I'm not surprised at all, being a hardcore and faithful Blizzard fan myself. I've come to expect and appreciate their successful, truly well-done releases. They have a passion for gaming as a whole, unmatched by any other gaming company, again as a whole. The more personal reason is that I am absolutely enthralled with the warcraft universe and series.. hell I often imitate the voices and sayings from each warcraft game. I'm as glued a follower as they come, though not as visibly as others. For the Horde! ~Glok'tur
  7. Well thank you! And congratulations Rhoach. =) Or rather.. Rulg latz! Agh kungratulazhunz Rhoach! ~Glok

*laugh* No mon, I don' be likin' da trollz. (not that way atleast... *snicker*)
  9. OOC: That was excellent! *applauds* You should join in the Ashenvale Outpost story, once Ulguts or Grulg continues it. (Or if one of us gets bored waiting further and carefully attempts filling their character's part in the story.)
  10. (Hehe, all I can really add would be more examples.. Best way to learn is practice, as you know.)
  11. *Glok'tur raises a bewildered orcish brow* Urm... Ug. Lat.. ukee? Nub blah urukizh wel yed? Ur maybee lat krazi? Lat blahin bowd "grukkin' latz ghaash" an udder tingz dat nub make su muj senz. OOC: Welcome! So, care to elaborate about your character and choice of words? Heh heh. Nice name for him though!

In my past experience, people who roleplay orcs will sometimes roleplay chosing "mates" and pair up. But they aren't lovy-dubby with one another or anything, atleast not publicly. And that's preferable, as it just gets kind of weird when you start allowing that kind of stuff in roleplay.. and even weirder in this situation because we aren't roleplaying humans.... unlses a big husky troll turns you on or something. Umm... yeah.. Looks like the issue hasn't been addressed yet, and probably won't even really be an issue. But for safety sake I would suggest not going farther than perhaps 2 people roleplaying that they are mates. And stay away from the affectionate roleplay, it's just awkward and sometimes downright innappropriate. ~Glok

Yeup yeup, he did. The question is, will she be one of those that take it? The word I use for female orc is "kuruk." (Many from Shadowclan use it, I believe it's a variant from one of the black speech dialects.) It's a slightly less degrading term. Glok only uses breed'r with "fe-orcs" he doesn't like. ~Glok

    Battle

I only realized it was even there a day or two ago, heh. I've toyed around with it, aswell as the inventory some. I like it!
  15. *cough* Uglutz *cough* Please continue? Otherwise one of us will cautiously attempt fitting your character into the story, though you know him much better. ~Glok
  16. Don't mind them, they're RP nazis *COUGH* I mean strict! *nervous shifty eyes* Heh heh, they don't like the warcraftesque style. So we must bend to their rule. *snicker* So no "mon" for you, mon.
  17. OOC: Well I kind of messed up by involving Grulg so directly, as it seems he is busy or atleast does not wish to add to the story, so forgive me if I have your char. act or do something unlike him, as I'm going to further the story now. Glok'tur, along with every other skullcrusher in the immidiate area, backed away from the flailing mountain giant, fearful of it's blind rage. The giant happened to trip on a piece of lumber from the smouldering tower above, landing on it's face in the dirt. The horde nearby wasted no time in jumping upon it and hacking and slashing violently. It's outer rocky hide began to crumble as it struggled to get up, though not succeeding. Finally the hordish weapons broke through, and the giant was quickly put out. There was a raging uproar from the night elves during this, as they began cursing and yelling in their native tongue, which sounded silly to Glok'tur. He turned to Grulg, who had returned to commanding his group of warriors, which had visibly decreased in number during the commotion.. He yelled, "Grulg! Uz hab tu wiffdraw! Der tuu menny. Luuk! Id am bubhosh tu be klomped, AGH luuz da owtpozt? Uz meet renforzmunts, fite anudder muun tu viktory!" Grulg snarled in disgust, but he knew Glok was right. He had already pushed the thought from his own mind before Glok'tur had mentioned it. He groaned, slew another elf gleefully, and called a withdraw. "Skullcruzhers! Furm un me! Diz baddul ash-sided! Uz meet felluw horde frum Ogrimmar! MOOB ID!" And with that, the semi-organized retreat had begun. There was hesitance on all levels, but everyone withdrew from the outpost, peons ahead of the group and running. The shamans did their best to keep in the middle and heal those that struggled. The elves pursued a short ways, but suddenly pulled back towards the battle-scarred fort now in the distance. In the midst of the retreat, Glok'tur had noticed the unconscious troll who initially bested the giant with his creativity, and picked him up and slung him over his shoulder. The war-torn and tired outpost remnant marched toward Ogrimmar as the day faded to night. Glok'tur did his best to count the survivors, and though difficult he gathered that there were approximately 70 or 80 in the group. Not counting the support troops, the peons, there had been approximately 200 war-troops to begin with. Most of the shamans had survived, aswell as the few warlocks that were stationed. The warriors included hunter and rogue-type alike, aswell as any other fighters. The Skullcrusher tribe had an assortment of assets in its members, and it had lost many of those assets, and friends, today.
  18. *nods* It will work either way, I just thought it might be interesting. Yeah, I guess for that we would want to come at the game from a full "Warcraft Role-play" standpoint, as jamaican accents and orcs speaking good english doesn't fit unless you do. Nevermind, suggestion withdrawn. We will have to tolerate a lot of other people roleplaying that way of course, which will be fine. Perhaps it will be one of the things we skullcrushers shake our heads at, as we are trying to pull away from the changes brought about through the orcish servitude under the burning legion. One of those changes could be considered the language that the horde generally speaks. While we have developed an altered version, to feel more independent. We should start thinking about some of the backstory and things we will have to entangle with the warcraft history, as it is ridiculous to enter this game thinking we can ignore it, since this is one of the first games to include a highly developed orcish culture, that's playable. We will need to follow the history that is implied simply by playing in the game, yet be independent in our tribe's culture, to some extent. ~Davatar
  19. I was thinking about it, as the anticipation for WoW grows, aswell as my anxiety to roleplay orcs, and my general love for everything Warcraft.. I think it would be fitting to allow trolls to mix the warcraft jamaican accent that trolls have, with our orcish language. Shim did a decent job doing so in his addition to the Ashenvale Forest Outpost story in the Fire Pit. I mean, c'mon it's warcraft. Providing that anyone who does so uses a little logic, it's not hard to do. "Me nub tink dat su guud, mon. Les gu clompin' lizzies insted, den we be jingly." It would just bring more of the warcraft universe home, for me, and I would assume others aswell. I've already begun to adapt my speech for Glok'tur, as an orc, to fit more like the warcraft orcs. Of course it will still be slurred, broken and "orcish." But I have started re-working how I phrase some things in orcish, so it still retains the warcraft orc feel, aswell as immersive orcish roleplay feel. The tauren could possibly have a similar altered lingo, or phrasing. Afterall, trolls and tauren are different cultures, and we will have to adapt to the warcraft universe in many ways. Probably the largest being that the warcraft orcs are from Draenor, a different planet, and were infact led a quiet shamanistic life before their corruption by the burning legion. But all those things will be fitted out as we play, and have to accomodate for them. The language on the other hand can be decided upon now, since it doesn't depend on game mechanics and nature. ~Glok'tur
  20. Did you know Blizzard has asked that no one make live game recordings like this? That's not to say I'm not going to queue that link's downloads before I go to sleep or anything but.. yeah. *shifty eyes* ~Glok'tur (Alright every time I post I almost sign it ~Davatar instead of Glok, as that is the name I have used for nearly 5 years. I'm sure I have accidentally missed correcting it before, so don't be confused if ever you see that instead of ~Glok'tur.)
  21. Glok'tur had just spotted the orcish captain atop a giant wolf, when an uproar of warcries sounded from behind him.. The elves were here already! He cursed their agility and made his way for the captain, who was now glancing towards the fort walls and troops, then back at the workers he was giving orders to. Glok'tur reached him right as he drew his massive orcish sword, unique among the horde only to raiders, and was about to make for the battle. "Mi lord! Da elbz am menny, we hab fuw! Me tink id nar week tu wiffdraw, for da sayk ub deze skullcruzherz! Clomp annudder muun, er wiff re-enforzmunts. Uruk'hai nar puppedz ub Bernt Leejun ennymor, uz shuud nub ruzh tu owr deffz." The captain looked down at Glok'tur and his brow furrowed, he then spat, "Lat nede blah wiff Uglutz ur Grulg, dem kum yeztermuun. Me nub hab dat kuntrol." "Nub" thought Glok'tur, common orcish for "no." Glok'tur had studied some of the tomes brought over from Draenor, after the first war. He had begun to teach himself the old language, and implement it into his daily speech. There were others who did the same, largely vuduka, but he longed for his people to return to more of their original culture, and language. The thought ended briefly as this was not the time to ponder, there was battle at hand, and higher ranking orcs to find. Glok'tur turned on his heels and made his way for the fort walls, which would have already been overrun had the hordish forces not engaged the elves outside, aswell as within. Glok'tur darted through the peons rushing more supplies to the lines, observing a thick line of trolls atop the structure unleashing a flurry of spears at the enemy. Every now and then one would scream and curse as an elvish arrow pierced them, but they would continue on shortly after had the injury not been critical. Glok'tur reached a gate, one door partially open to allow warriors in and out and peons on the inside waiting to shove it closed at a moments notice. He slid through crouched low and into the mass of skullcrusher's being slowly forced back by the advancing elf army. Glok'tur took hold of dual axes at his side, and made his way for a group of orcs surrounding Uglutz. He evaded a night elf blade and spun around swinging both axes at his attacker. The elf jumped backwards into a tauren warrior who lifted it above his head and through it at the swelling night elf ranks. Glok'tur killed 1 or 2 more elves along the way and reached Grulg's group, which was heavily on the defensive, engaged in a game of parry with night elves half-surrounding them. Grulg backed from the fight quickly replaced by 2 more grunts, and shouted some orders to a small group of trolls slicing the enemy in a flurry of scimitars. Glok'tur took this oppurtunity and squeezed in next to Grulg, spouting out quickly his suggestion to temporarily retreat, considering their numbers were already falling quickly and the elves had a good many more to spare. They were not untrained, either. Night elves are agile opponents, skilled in the bow and exotic blades. Their armor, though light, is by no means flimsy, aswell. He blurted all of this as fast as he could, dodging a few arrows here and there. Suddenly a cry came from along the other end of the lines, both Glok'tur and Grulg looking to see what had happened. The mountain giant had reached the frontline and in one fell swing sent a handful of orcs flying, a couple of which did not arise again..
  22. I understand exactly what you mean, because the appeal was there for me too. But the differences between how the games are meant to be played is huge, so I personally don't think it's very practical to limit a clan to all orcs in WoW. Priests and Shaman are the only healing classes, and healing is a *must* in any MMORPG. Shaman heals are not as efficient as priest heals, and orcs do not make near as good of shamans as trolls do. Trolls are also able to be priests. WoW is designed in such a way that trolls are *meant* to be ever-present, as the support structure of any raid or group for the Horde. Orcs and Tauren are designed to be the hard hitters, the tanks. Orcs are basically the average-all of the Horde, as humans are for the alliance. Therefore I think if you remove the specialists from a clan, that clan will meet some big problems on the battle field against an opposing clan, or alliance group that has their support structure full. I think WoW calls for us RPers to integrate a new and unique structure, adapted to the Warcraft universe. It's easily possible to keep the role-play presently strong, we just must rise to the challenge and expand our role-playing minds. *chuckle* I for one would greatly enjoy a pure-roleplay guild such as SoC, or SC that goes by the warcraft culture and personalities exactly, without restricting this and that. If everyone were to take the game as it is, a role-playing game, and permanently sumerge their characters as seperate entities, formal RP clans and their rigid structure would be unnecessary. But that's like saying "If only everyone helped one another..." in the real world. So you do your best. I surely wish you great success with finding a 100% orc clan, and making it work. And I invite you to return if you do not, or change your mind. Ultimately we are here to have fun, and enjoy each other within an awesome game. ~Davatar
  23. I'm sorry to see you go aswell, and in hopes you will return to the forums atleast, I will post my opinion on the matter. You have brought up some very valid points, though I disagree with your ratio. We are indeed primarily an orc clan, and will always be that way. But as Martok mentioned, in WoW we will be missing out on some very necessary classes within the game. Also Tauren and Trolls will be better at some classes that orcs can be, so it will be helpful to have a few of them in those roles aswell. The cold hard fact of WoW is that we are entering a game that has an EXTREMELY strong history, storyline, and culture. The Blizzard Orcs are *not* Tolkien orcs and they are not any other orc roleplayed out there. Most of the players will be expecting, and attempting to interact with us on the level they are familiar with from Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3, and I am one of those long-time warcraft players and have grown to appreciate the unique variants of each race, compared to their father-figures. So to not be entirely out of place, and therefore rejected even further (since RPers are looked down upon as it is by so many..), it is best if we incorporate as much of the Warcraft Horde and players as possible. If we were to be a 100% orc clan, not only would we miss out bigtime class-wise and be less-efficient on a clan-wide scale, we would begin to look like the "RP Nazis" that have given role-players a bad name. When it boils down, the truth is you *cannot* limit everyone to just the way you want things done without disappointing others. Nobody likes an RP nazi, not that I am calling you one, but a 100% orc clan with extremely rigid structure is borderline when the game allows for so much more. In whatever game you came from, that may have worked very well. I came from Shadowclan on Catskills, UO where the game did *not* offer much, infact there were only humans which we adapted to "orcs." In a game like wow, a rigid structure in a clan like that simply is not efficient. You must allow your player-base to incorporate as much of the game as they can. Keep in mind that no matter what clan you join in WoW, your continued player-base will be made up of people who have experienced the game in full and will be expecting to implement that which they enjoy, within your clan. So allow for as much as you can. ~Glok'tur
  24. Rouge is french for "red." It's prettier sounding than red so it doubles as the name of particular makeups. *laugh* "I'm a rouge." "Uhh.. I didn't know it was possible to *be* a color, but whatever dude." Hehe, just teasing. All in good fun! ~Glok
