  1. Nuts. Guess I will have to make up my own story. Still think some perv is using it to peek in the bathroom windows of the house next to it.
  2. Ok. New folks coming along everyday. They hear about 8x8 but have no clue what it really is. This essay expalins it in detail. Only one thing I didn't see in it: Beware the monsters of the sea!!!! Here it is, happy reading, and yes there is a program out there that can make this easier to do. 8x8 in plain english
  3. Mr Tact posted on the stratics forums the exact luck formula: Luck translates directly into a % chance to get a bump in number of items, number of item props and property intensity. The % is calculated very simply: it's luck ^ ( 1/1.8 ), which ends up being slightly better than the square root. As you know, luck maxes out at 1200, which gives you roughly a 51% chance of getting the bump. MrTact Then wilki24 (UOstratics poster) posted this handy table showing us the different pecentages: I figured I'd make a table, and post it here since we Bards certainly can use more luck! Luck Chance for better item 100 13 % 200 19 % 300 24 % 400 28 % 500 32 % 600 35 % 700 38 % 800 41 % 900 44 % 1000 46 % 1100 49 % 1200 51 % ------------------------------------------ Anybody seem to think this means luck is just a waste of time?
  4. Ok, I have been looking at the telescope in Moonglow since September. What purpose does it serve? Is there a story behind it? Was a worldbuilder just bored? What's the deal? Right now it just seems to be used for peeking into the bathroom windows of the house next to it.

I have an almost empty 7x7 that can be used for storage if needed.
  6. Welcome back Pride. Hope the move went well.
  7. What would "accordingly" be? 10% 15% Really don't know and trying to learn.
  8. As I sat upon the steps of my home pondering the retirement of Wolf and the results of my actions. I felt a cold wind blow.I heard hoofsteps coming through the forest and felt a chill run up my spine. A rider dressed in black emerged from the trees carrying a well used staff with dried blood stains upon it and his armour. He brought his steed to a hault before me and looked down upon me. "You are the one called Winter Wind. A memeber of the so-called Honor Empire. You know nothing of Honor." His words angered me. I felt doubt creep into my mind and soul. "Honor is why I am here. One of my brothers has gone astray. The master is not pleased. I am risking my own soul by talking to one as wretched as you. My bond of honor to my brother is why I am here." I had no idea what this dark rider spoke of. What I did know is that his tone and voice pointed to dire consquences. "You will tell the traitor that death comes for him. His soul is sacrifice if he does not return to his true home." Before I could respond the dark rider lashed out with his staff and struck me along the right side of my head. As the darkness filled my vision I heard one final thing before the world went black. "The traitor will be made to suffer. He comes soon. Soon all will see the wrath of........"
  9. Check the Brit mall and travel lodge. Drop your prices 10% below thiers. They are always higher at those spots.
  10. *sits on steps of her home* *lights a candle in memory and honor* *wipes a tear from her check*
  11. Wish I could have made it. Hopefully I can make the next one.

  13. No it doesn't need to be mage armour. Gonna put it on my necromancer. The skull is the key piece to me, the rest of the armour will be hidden beneath his clothing.
  14. I think I have said all I have to say on the issue. Anything else will just be repeating myself and that will accomplish nothing. Just gonna sit back and see where things lead to now. Now, on a different subject. Brightblade. I understand you are having problems. There is nothing wrong wtih that and I believe everybody is understanding of your situation.
  15. I could be mistaken, but I think all the "newbie" items got squashed with the release of AoS. Nothing is really newbyfied anymore. But for a wish list: Low Reg Cost suit. In trade: Hmm, don't have much. Willl my soul do?
  16. Martok, no offense intended here. That is part of the problem that lead to the voting. NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE EMPIRE When was the last time we saw you, Borg, or any of the other senior memebers at a meeting? The guild chain of command is shot to hell. We are tired of waiting and waiting and waiting. That is why we are voting now. According to what happened at the meeting. Lora called Stan. He agreed to step out of the Emperor position (not the stone mind you, the stone isn't changing), and allow those of us that have remained in the guild and in the game to deicde who our leaders are. Now if Borg or any of the other memebers that have not been able to attend a meeting in a while would like to add anything to the Empire, they can use the forums. But they haven't. Now after last night we are told to wait and watch the forums? We have been. There is no communication in the empire. Leadership is *almost* non-existant. Those of us that are left behind are doing our best to fix these problems. Please stop telling us to wait. We are tired of waiting for people we never see or hear from anymore.
  17. Gimme a B Gimme a U Gimme a M Gimme a P What's that spell? VOTE! hehe
  18. I see your point Akroma. It just felt to me that there wasn't enough of a leadership role being filled in the guild. I promise you, I had no intention of causing the chaos I did last night. I don't believe that we should not fault any of the leadership though. Just not to the extreme that was expressed at the meeting. As members of the empire we should take an active role in what happens with the empire. But, that's just my opinion.
  19. I believe I understand what you are saying Wolf. While you have stepped aside from a leadership position, who was aware of it? This is the first I have heard on the matter. It all goes back to the underlying problem I was attempting to address last night. There is a serious lack of communication within the guild. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. I don't think Linda was trying to cut her nose off. The problem is that there are new members to the empire on an almost daily basis. What they are coming into is a guild with no "visible" leadership. Granted those that are there and playing are doing a good job. But all to often things go awry with nobody having the authority to fix them. Look at the GoL incident. It seems everybody and their brother was issuing orders on what to do. There was no 1 person in charge and handling it. Nobody knew how to react. Finall order we got was from Martok letting us know we risked being booted from the guild if we attacked GoL. Nothing against Martok, but when was the last time anybody saw him at a PGoH meeting? Or in game for that matter? It was just another in announcement in a long line of useless ones. There were people in the empire that saw GoL as kill on sight targets. Others thought GoL was out to kill each and every one of us. Still more were nervous and worried whenever they encountered a GoL member in Tram for crying out loud. Greg suggested that all attend the meeting where the situation was to be explained. We left there more confused than when we arrived. Communication is a big problem and so is lack of leadership. We need somebody at the helm or this ship is going to hit the rocks. It seems that problem is being resolved. We all need to learn to communicate better to avoid problems. Myself included. The thing I belive upset Linda, myself, and so many others last night the most was Borg sending a message through Lora that we were all to be placed on a new stone, with a new name, and a new abbrev. We were trying to get leadership established, and the leader we haven't seen in over a month was now just "sending word" of his plans for us. Like I said at the meeting, I felt like I was being discarded like yesterdays trash by people that have not had or taken the time to meet me or be involved with the ongoings of the guild. The issue was resolved though. For those that were not there last night, it was quite an eventful evening. Many things were said. Some were quite harsh. (sorry) The meeting lasted two hours.
  20. Found on stratics at: this link, the news page,On the UO Bard Forum, Sannio (Online Content Coordinator) explains why certain ways of practicing barding might be illegal.” Hi, everyone. I wanted to throw in some cautions about some of the training techniques being talked about here. Before I go on, as I've said before, the Game Master on the scene is the one who makes the final call. I'm not the one making policy for them, but I *can* give you some clarifications on what might happen if a GM wandered by as certain activities were occurring. So: training in your barding skills in your house is fine. You can train them anywhere you like, and working your skills in your house is not inappropriate. A GM was quoted elsewhere in this thread as stating it is allowed for players to provoke 2 creatures against one another in your house, and that you need to personally be there during the training. This is all true in general. I can't tell if the GM knew of the more specific scenario of "bears behind a fence," so I'm going to try to expand on his reply. The creature you are attacking, or using to attack for you, needs to be able to defend itself by having the possibility of attacking you. In the case of the bears, if you failed your provo and the bear decided you looked like someone who should be eaten, it sounds like the bears had no chance of escaping the fence to attack the provoker. In this case, the "creature behind the fence" technique would be unacceptable. If the creatures were dragons instead of bears, that would be a bit different since dragons can fire off spells without the fence being such a, well, exploitable game mechanic. This situation could become dramatically more acceptable if the bears weren't really blocked in and trapped--as long as they have a reasonable chance to retaliate, then things will be more acceptable. Monster blocking is not simply a matter of enclosing the victim within a circle of crates or using "the boat trick" (both also inappropriate "techniques"). We might now include a fenced-in "animal pen" from a custom house as a "monster blocker technique," depending upon the actual design, of course. Again, it would always be up to the GM on the scene to make the call, as he or she examines the exact situation at hand. and… Q: I'm curious as to why bards are required to be "in danger" or attackable just to train skills. I could go train a 7xgm mage in no time without ever risking harm, and with all 100% legal training methods. A: Truthfully, it's the technique that's I'm discussing--penning in the creatures (ex. the bears) without any possible retaliation scenario--and not so much the specific skills. You could easily substitute magery or archery based attacks for a barding-based tact and the same concerns would still come up. In this way, the concerns we might have against the stated technique are not bard-specific. Q: How about 'skeletons behind a fence' of Yew graveyard? Provoking two skeletons from the northern end of the graveyard considered as an exploit? A: This situation has the advantage of you at least being in a danger zone, as opposed to the 100% no-threat scenario of combat involving penned in creatures within the added safety of your own house (or boat, for that matter). Fighting skeletons in a graveyard may be more acceptable, but I don't want to start diving into a number of specific hypotheticals. The game is far too complex for me to try to detail out every acceptable, unacceptable, or exceptional technique for every combat situation. I can suggest guidelines to help you stay involved in the game in a more productive manner, but it would be up to the GM on the scene to assess the situation and make the call, if such a call needs to be made. Q: So does this mean that the boat trick is acceptable as long as one is getting hit with spells and firebreath from time to time? A: If you attack a monster from the "safety" of your boat, and the opportunity exists for it to attack back (such as with spells or firebreath), then this general situation is acceptable. Q: Well, I don't know about others, but I know that I made a post months ago in a thread on the official uo.com Bard Board where someone described in detail what you call "the boat trick"... I asked for an official statement concerning this blocking method... I provided links with quotes of official OSI statements on blocking and I also sent a PM to the person whom I thought would be able to at least let me know if I am on a completely wrong track... But alas - although the PM got received and I am sure that officials read this board on a regular basis nothing happened... A: The OSI staff didn't often frequent the "focus forums," such as the Bard Board you mentioned, so perhaps that is why the boat trick wasn't discussed by us there. However, I have addressed the boat trick on several occasions within the past year--on the MyUO boards, as board PMs, via e-mails, and as Game Wizard responses. It may not have been an issue that came up a lot, but it did come up several times in public forums. The "penned in creatures" technique isn't so much different from the boat trick, which is partly why I wanted to mention all that I have in this thread. Be that as it may, you mentioned a "dragon trick." If you get the time, would you be able to send details on that to us at uobugs@uo.com, please? That'll help the QA team coordinate any related info that may help us eventually eliminate such exploitive tricks. Thanks for all your comments, by the way. and… Jean-Luc, I like your thinking. You have a healthy caution against using something that even seems like an exploit, and I applaud you efforts to play the game as it's intended more than how to find and exploit little tricks. My response may have been over-general with that last response, so I'll try to clarify further for everyone. I recently expanded on this same scenario in this way: Blocking monsters is inappropriate mostly because you can attack the monster in such a way that you're never, ever at risk. If the monsters just happened to be on boats or in a house, that's not specifically wrong, as long as the risk and potential for harm still exist. Shooting at a bear which is on a boat means the bear will take damage and you will never take any. That's an inappropriate situation. However, shooting at a demon which is on a boat is different--crossing ever-so-subtly into possible-acceptability--since the demon can fire back at you, your buddies, other enemies, etc. In some ways, it's almost doesn't matter that the demon is on the boat. I hope that additional information helps. ========= Sannio Online Content Coordinator Ultima Online (www.uo.com) Origin Systems You can read and comment on the thread here
  21. Just trying to bump the poll back to the top of the list for those that have not voted yet.
  22. Hmmmm. You know what McDonalds is. Dairy Queen is the same thing except they deal with Ice Cream instead of hamburgers.
