Ever wondered......

Borg

Recommended Posts

I see as I work on the guildstone tonight many names I have never met.....

and in turn they have never met me.

At the same time I am asked alot about the history of the guild and in turn many do enjoy hearing the answers to WHY IS THIS OR THAT etc in the guild or structure etc questions.....

SO.......

I will start this thread with the intent of answering questions about the guild history and/or structure.

Perhaps some wish to know why something was created or designed or followed.

The first question comes from Hudson.......

"Why does Rattlehead's grave have an Anvil on it? To keep him in his grave?"

No.....Rattlehead was the first EVER GM smith on Catskills shard of UO. It was Rattlehead and his charitable work in the wilds near the mountains far west of Trinsic and south of Destard that moved the GOD of METAL...VULCAN to position an anvil and small forge in the wild.

If memory serves me......in Felucca this may still exist sitting in the grass near the east side of a mountain range.

Players would mine and drag/drop ore to him at the forge where he would make whatever they needed from their ore or simply smelt it for them. His high level of skill meant they would not lose as much in the smelting process. They would then train with him at the forge since also back in those days you could LEARN by WATCHING (being in proximity of another skill occuring).

He was a magnet for the realm smiths and miners.

He was a great and HONORable man who led us in many adventures and he was my friend.

Rattlehead eventually moved further into the realm wilderness and forged his own guild revolving around nature....now his spirit lives on the air, in the ground, in the ripples of the water and the fires of the mountains itself......he most likely still serves VULCAN in some manner as he always did.

Post your questions brethren.....

I will EDIT into your question the answer.

yes how did the 3 Founders meet?? Hudson

The other two founders, Sir Lags A Lot and Yukon Bob are real world friends who live in the outskirts of Cleveland Ohio. They were playing the game in the evenings and I had saw them first at the Provisioners shop in Trinsic and then later on several occassions either at the Healers or coming from the Healers.

General conversation over "HOW TO DO" something occured in the provisioners....dont quite remember what it was but I belive it was over selling backpacks and junk.....you could only sell 5 items at a time to a NPC Vendor back then and sometimes they would run out of gold.....which stunk and meant you had to travel around to other vendors to see if they would buy your stuff.

Well....we seemed to have the same "play times" and started to venture out together and first found REZZ POINT (place South of Trinsic on cost) that had alot of animals and RED Grizzlies and the occassional Orc and Troll or Ettin. Those were mega monsters back then....and the RED GRIZZLIES were nasty and usually chased everyone away ehhehe. It was a challenge back then to be able to kill an animal first before the others could. BANDAIDS....DID NOT WORK in early days....only magic really did any good healing or potion pots. An amazing sight was one time a SHIP came up on that point.....everyone there was in awe.........Holy Cow that guy has a SHIP!!!!

Murderers would also recall or gate in and in seconds kill everyone and loot them dry.....trashtalking all the time. Original years PKs were all kEWlDoods.....then came roleplaying murderers for about 2 yrs then it all dropped off and now powergamers and KewWLDoodS again make up the PK population mostly.

The greatest weapon of a PK or Murderer then was the HEAVY CROSSBOW hehehe.

It was a great time actually when the Roleplaying Murderers would come....they would declare orders for you to leave or you would KNOW they were coming by seeing thier names come on screen.....hehehe and you knew what kind of player they were.......Murderer (RPer) or PK (keWldood idiot).

One of the greatest PKs who became a great Murderer was Xtasy (spelling that wrong I think) and she was a challenge.......none of us ever defeated her but she never did kill me....I always would escape or actually talk to her and roleplay out of the combat event.......was a great time then.

I became good friends with her and back then most of the PK/Murderers were at the top end of all the skills (they would train against each other and not worrying about being red meant they would skill gain FAST) In those early days too.....if you died you LOST SKILLS so most of us couldnt commit a ton of time to gaming and skill gain was TOO valuable to gamble with losing. Well through good interaction I actually became known to the Murderer community and would get "more" time for my group to "interact" prior to any combat.

That process and how it related to the game engine and overall experience added to the adventuring that Lags, Bob and myself did....so it began to bond our group together. We all enjoyed helping other new players and tried constantly to show others the merits and worth of teamwork and doing things FUN and FASTER but not to the extent of Powergaming. The more we learned the more we looked to help and expand our circle of friends and contacts.....constantly learning and venturing out deeper into the wilds.....I remember Yew did not have a Bank at first so we would have to SURVIVE travels to and from Orc Valley many times evading Orcs (Roleplayers) and PKs as well as the worst PKs....the Chest Bombers.

Everything we did as a team and/or taught each other.....we to this day I think could finish each others statements if we sat at a bar or whatnot.....like minded individuals. The early days of UO fostered such and provided such type of grouping.....and then guild creating occured on that line.

Inside Trinsic Rattlehead used the North Smith shop and thats where we would also buy his services and then find him in the wilds. Our adventuring took us further out away from Trinsic and after navigating the Moongates we eventually also met Balandar and he became our mage support and then travel gatemaster.

The one thing that really separated us from most players was that we all did not care at all about gold much......only thing we wanted it for was to buy new armor from NPCs or Rattlehead, Reagents and Potion pots. The main thing we cared about was SKILL gaining and being able to survive longer in dangerous places....stunk when we would lose stuff to PKs who only took our stuff to sell to get gold. We would just have to sell more backpacks hehehe

The Realm was divided then into.....

1)GOLD HUNGRY PKS (aiming to irritate others)

2)GOLD and SKILL HUNGRY MURDERERS (aiming to build big houses)

3)SKILL and GOLD HUNGRY ROLEPLAYERS (aiming to build communities)

4)SKILL HUNGRY GAMERS (aiming to adventure)

We started as Group 4.....and remained such till early 1999 then we moved to be Group 3

Now I think there are only 3 groups.....

1)GOLD and SKILL HUNGRY PKS (aiming get better loot)

2) xxxxxxxxxxxRIPxxxxxxxxxxxx

3)ROLEPLAYERS (aiming to build communities)

4)GOLD HUNGRY GAMERS (aiming to get better loot)

Mainly due to the nearly irrelevant issue Skill gaining has become (so easy to achieve) and the emphasis on all mechanics of game system to deal with loot achivement by killing....Group 2 is basically extinct.

Roleplaying Murderers were rewarded by the GODS and given "blessings" to thier communities or buildings they built. So too did the other Roleplayers but Evil was rewarded first and provided a goal or challenge for the rest of the realm to fight against or aim to achieve.

THAT interaction WITH the game system was what many played the game to achieve....us early Founders sought to create a good strong team of friends (family) that could someday achieve something good. We were early teachers in a sense....Good of the Many.

We began in a way then to worship the GODS of SKILLS.....Bob and Lags were less into the RP than I was and I guess it was my flair for the dramatic/weaving of storylines to foster an issue that sorta made it fun a bit more......especially when we would get some notice from the GODS. So all was good.....we were happy in anything we did. Including putting a stapler on our keyboard to hold a button down to make the computer attack the damn training dummy over and over.......lord were we EVER going to get to 25 skill in it?

We didn't realize then that SPARRING rose the skill 1000 times faster heheheh

Man it feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago......

Who came up with the idea to make PGoH a Roman type guild vs some other type structure and the reasoning behind it? -Earwen

I did. I have always had a fascination with ancient cultures and we took the "cooler" sounding namesakes and such from Greek and Roman records and blended it into the guild structure. The Romans and Greek gave the real world structures and civilizations.....I was hoping to be able to do the same for the NEWLY BORN ONLINE WORLD of gaming....give it a structure that fostered the GOOD of the MANY. For online activity and to mantain the Good of the Many PLUS a means to PROTECT guild investments....some form of Theocracy/Imperial government was decided as best. Lord British was a King....we did not wish to create another King....so we decided to build an Empire that could stretch across his Kingdom and work in concert with the environment etc (Game mechanics)

Is there an original copy of the codex? If so can it be posted and who were the authors of it? -Earwen

The document that you could say was the origional codex was basically a structure overview of the guild with command and responsibility lines....more like a flowchart. ALL of it revolved around SKILL GOD worship and TRAINING. All activities were basically guild donation events.....back then remember 100 gold was nearly unheard of on any monster. Pushing resource gathering so that our smiths could MAKE gold from selling to NPC vendors was our main objective.

As we grew though......interaction and opinions ran rampant and many times personalities clashed and we lost the ability to maintain GUILD first mentality on activities.

The Codex was our way to help provide a mechanism to govern when leaders were not online etc.

There was a HUGE push in events toward WAR mechanics which went live and the guild wanted answers of how to do xyz and what to do if abc occured.....etc.

Greg dove into designing the CODEX as a means of LAW.....prior to that we were basically WORSHIP based and it was difficult for new members to "KNOW" what was right or wrong to do...

The codex was built to provide them answers to questions 24/7.

The State area for the most part became an entity (Head of State) when before it was a planned role.

Senators held the greatest power prior to the Codex.

Council now holds the greatest power after the Codex.

The Emperor prior to the Codex was the voice of the GODS.

After the Codex now he is the voice of the Empire.

Prior to the Codex, our structure was the deepest and widest in scope and scale.......the GODS (OSI) applauded the detailed alignments.

After the Codex, we slimmed down roles but maintained the depth and scale.....we still were viewed the same by the GODS (OSI)

If I recall correctly Greg was the author of the original codex (I sure wish I knew what happened to him) and Gladiator may have had something to do with the roman theme :smurf: -Chris

Nope....Gladiator was way way after the foundation of the guild.

Movie though did allow us a nice show to see on the bigscreen of the roles and various mechanics that we had adopted prior into the guild.....ie black/purple, cohorts, etc.

and Gladiator may have had something to do with the roman theme   :smurf:

If you are refering to the movie Gladiator...PGoH was around quite a while before that came out!!

In fact, when Gladiator came out, it was exactly how I pictured the Imperator and the Senator of War acting...just like Maximus!..

But the emperor ... blech.... :smurf: Martok

It was darn cool aye.....

Praetorian Prefect also....following orders to the letter (BB)

The Praetorian Guards....."ALL ENEMIES of the EMPEROR MUST DIE!!"

Legion......following orders perfectly to the letter.....professional and in unison

Imperator.......Maximus....."Stick with me and you will live......Strength and HONOR"

We in game succeeded countless times when other guilds broke, were defeated and complained about the toughness of challenges........all because we stuck together, followed orders and put the good of the guild/Legion line FIRST before anything else.

hehehe I remember one guild that fell in seconds to SKELETON SORCERERS when they started to loot the fallen DOOM DEAMONS....hehehe

they all started to complain.........%#%*#(* i cant loot anyting they killed me...no fair OSI.

Sigh....they never did understand the event and the challenges.

The reward was in the end and the days to follow as Lord Ventry, Minax, JuoNar and Paradox (OSI filled this role for a while) attacked OUR castle, OUR Towers, OUR members in dungeon ambushes and OUR members in the wilds when we never expected it...........

THAT WAS ULTIMA ONLINE........THAT is what is is supposed to be!!!!

UNKNOWN........CHALLENGE..........SUCCESS.........move the bar for both sides......player and designer

Ok for the people that might not have heard the story or know about it....What do the different banners stand for that are hanging in Olympus? -Earwen

Good question...

The Banner idea came about through UO after heavy urgence of roleplayers in the year 2000 through 2001. Rusty may remember actually a time where I asked them to select thier house colors and or designs before the announcements of the banners.....our plan was to be up and running before anyone else with Heraldic lore. We accomplished this and when the banners came out the following are now on display.

Black/Purple in the center of the thrones is the Banner of the Emperor/Empire

To his right hand is the Praetorian banner symbolizing order and justice..having the Kings serpents symbols....blood red and black.

To his left is the Legion banner (most like a shield) with the crossing of an Honor Sash upon it.

Next to the Legion is the Brown and white Orc Cohort which was formed when I aligned the Empire with the Orcs against a common enemy and threat to the land....Savages/Juka/Mechanics of Lord Blackthorn.

Next to the Praetorians is the elegant banner of the Elf Cohort.

Those make up the bulk of the Empire physical might and insight.

Next to the Ank of Honor are the STATE and SENATE banners.

The Green and White one represent the SENATE and its means to produce wealth from resources.

(Green was chosen to represent nature and the use of it turning into gold)

The Grey and White one represent STATE in its neverending mission to filter through the world of grey we live in and attempt to deal with laws that cannot be black n white simple as we would hope they could be.

Black is the color of the Emperor....banners holding it are directly tied to that seat.

Purple is the color of the Legion with White binding them to the Orcs who hold Brown since they are born in mud.

Green is the color of Nature and the Elfs and Sentate link to it.

Red is the color of Praetorians......sacrifice and eternal service.

Grey is the world of State and is less simple than the Emperor's word of law which is black n white hehehe.

One of our strongest legacy in UO is our depth and reason for everything we do and/or roleplay around.....for the most part nothing is by chance or by default. That is what separates us from all the other guilds......they do not spend the time or concern for building and MAINTAINING any form of consistent lineage/lore or history. Flavor of the month is not our path.....it is the path for the rockets....up fast and burn out down to the ground.

Just would like to comment on Borgs speaking of the Legion Line. Prior to joining PGoH you may not have known i searched for months for a good guild, and never found one. All the ones i went to were together merely for convenience or for someone to come hunt with you. PGoH stands for far more than that. We all have a kinship together and I would do anything for any member of the guild. We are more than guildmates,we are brothers and sisters. Though we may have our differences, our likenesses will always conquer those.

Now onto my secondary reason for posting. Borg ive heard you speak of many tales to us in the years i have been with the guardians. However the first major quest I was part of in PGoH Was the quest of the poisoned trees in Yew, and the Plague Beast Lord puzzle. Would it be too much to ask how you figured out the cure to the trees, and for a recantation of the story? -Kodoz

I will have to be honest in this section of time within the game was when I was really in tough shape with the realworld illness....I helped point members who called me on the phone but Balandar, Alium and the Elves along with Ser Brightblade, Lora (during and before she joined guild), Greg, Wolf, Martok along with others solved this puzzle directly. I cannot take much credit and one of them should actually answer this question better than I can. This event success was a great example of the TEAM (Good of the Many working) all pitching in successfully......even in the smallest help.

I did chuckly though in bed when I heard someone's dead body was disolved by the beast ehhehe

Nasty lil bonus....loot ended up adding to the loot of the monster....man that was a nasty wrinkle *wink wink*

Well at least some Kodoz would do that others Will Not

And Borg Tell us about the First war Pgoh ever had with another guild -Devin

The first official war against another guild was vs the Shadowclan units.....in the early months it was fairly a stalemate with them winning all ambush events (on our tradespeople in wilderness working) and rarely them taking a dungeon group by surprise. Then the Legion galvanized and formed lines, planned assaults and also planned multi staged attacks and created (using game terrain) killing cones where as the enemy ran they were funnelled right into another line that ended thier retreat quite effectively. heheh

Shadowclan then never did overcome the Empire and even when they assaulted Trinsic....thier success was very fleeting....within seconds reinforcements would warp in to specific areas of city we held runes to that were out of the way and allowed us to gather a line to move into and retake a building or locaiton the Orcs held at the time.

The first unofficial war was with SUN and Black Knights.....bunch of kewldood PKs that would basically hide/kill loot.....what a mess.....they never would fight straight up and always....ALWAYS would recall out after killing one or two members. I coordinated with GoL a massive shard wide hunt and in one night we took down about 20 of them (this was back when there was no felucca/trammel)....all we heard then were complaints and whinning of how we had Soooo many against sooooo few of them.....it was classic Kewldood crying.....ok if they ambush one with 10 on 1 but god help it if its the other way around and everywhere they go they get attacked.......1 Sun guy actually we surrounded his house and he complained to GMS that we were blocking his exit and playing of game (harrassment).....

GM said......hmmm you have several murder counts, how many of those have you "played" with on thier terms? Seems you are now under house arrest, there is nothing I can do, have a great day. We all just laughed.

Again....Good of the Many triumphed over the Individual Greed (PK).

Nowdays....PKs have the upper hand because the citizens overall again are fractured for the most part.

I do give thier guilds EXTREEME credit though for creating thier own version of the line....by grouping and coordinating together they have dominated the Feluccan power scroll spawns. In doing so they prove the method does work....teamwork.

While it is a bummer no one can break thier dominance...I cannot complain about it....they have done a great job at maintaining the line....they deserve credit for such solid work.

I have always pondered finding a solid group of those strong teamwork units to blend into the guild ....remember there are many roles (ASSASSINS and PRAETORIANS) that would find themselves red most of the time if not always.

Now wouldn't that just be a pisser...I am sure we would get an earful of complaints then (from other guilds)

HONOR though is within all things.....even evil. It just has a different base upon which it stands. Evil has Honor just as much as Good does....it is how it is used that determines how it is viewed.

Lord Ventryn was evil but had great Honor.

JuoNar lost his Honor and became great evil.

Well at least some Kodoz would do that others Will Not

You are so right in that statement.

Borg also tell us what led up to OSI making the big bank in Trinsic. -Earwen

The Trinsic city in the first years only had one bank......the southern bank. It was under heavy siege of theives and miscreants who preyed on the unsuspecting bankers. After some successful ventures and work by the Legion in escorting wares to and fro cities the participants would be presented awards or asked what reward they would seek. Keep this point in mind.

At the same time in the game engine there were NO PACK ANIMALS and NO MEANS for carrying alot of ORE or INGOTS. For a short time ingots weighed NOTHING but then sadly....the realm offended VULCAN-GOD of METAL by complaining too much about the toils of mining and smithing sooooooo.....

VULCAN made Ingots heavier and reduced the smelting success ratios. Very sad this made many...but complain to GODS too much and they will not reward you but show you what real work truely is.

Well, after another round of successfull events we decided that we would ask for usage of the large building as a bank that was near to the Armorer within the PGoH quarter (we roleplayed we controlled at the time) and how this would be a) usable for mages/smiths/miners safer than the southern one.

(also at the time the GODS themselves struggled with thievery programming ....stealing thru walls etc)

Balandar had marked runes for us on top of the bank roof....no one else had them and we knew that at the time so when the approved order from Lord British's represenative came through....whamo we were safe and sound and the Trinsic North bank was built. The names of the bankers at the beginning were....

Colin (the character that requested the bank)

Charles (real name of Founder Lags)

Robert (real name of Founder Bob)

Chad (real name of Balandar)

Stan (real name of Founder Borg)

Also, in the first few months there were vendors inside the bank too that would buy our FURS (crap at the time) and Hides.....a programming conflict was happening and then the vendors were deactivated.

PGoH had begun OFFICIALLY to become a presence in Trinsic Lore.....ALL SHARDS had our bank built.

After the FOA events and our success.....we locked up Milita and Defenders of Trinsic lore when I refused all reward from Lord British directly and requested just the privilege and HONOR to serve and protect the city of Trinsic...our mother city of HONOR.

It was granted.

Ah, the good old days... and the even better days we can now build!

True, pk dominance at champ spawns can't be contested... yet.

As for the idea of recruiting some pvp-savvy feluccans, the only problems will be finding ones willing to rp (especially as members of a guild with such a strict moral code) and finding someone within the empire who they will respect (or fear) enough to listen to long enough to be recruited.

There is no can't. There is only do or do not.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

I'm so glad to see you post that Borg and to know that someone else sees that Honor lies within good and evil.

Now for my next question. Since I wasn't in the guild before the splitting of the lands into 2 facets tell me about the guild headquarters and where was it located. Did the guild hold several structures in the area or was everyone spread out? Were there any pics of it and if so can it posted? -Earwen

The guild headquarters was Trinsic basically.....the bank was where we all were OR we were in Hyloth Gargoyle cell or Coventous Torture rooms.....literally 22/7 (hhehe server down 2hrs a day). I mean we were ALWAYS there....I cannot emphasize that enough...those 3 locations everyone knew we would be there. We revolved around our utilization of the city structures to roleplay our "capital" area...the PGoH Quarter of Trinsic.

Our first guild house still stands at the Honorshrine SW corner....us founders, Balandar and Rattlehead placed it there. We then began to build houses near our roles....Rattlehead in a cove in mountains near Destard for mining (he had 4 houses there), Balandar had units on Ice Island, Bob and Lags had units up near Britain Pass....we placed wherever we could in the early days.

Then we began to excell ahead of the other guilds by a) not going for hotspots but more secluded locations and moved to dominate the area....HONOR COAST was the first. (I will look for a pic....may take me some time...perhaps Bal has one) We had the Honorshrine house then as you moved EAST on the coast starting at the edge of the beach....we had 2 smalls......a gap and 2 more smalls....then our first capital structure.....POSEIDON TOWER.....then another small house. Over time further East and North into the jungles we aquired Large houses and more smalls. The other remote units we held in those early days were one house on Valor Island, one house near Compassion, one by Chaos Shrine and one by Justice shrine. At one time we were trying to get all the Shrines houses hehe.

Dominating an area allowed us greater control of roleplaying and event orchestration and this lead to many plans for the upcoming new land masses....in both efforts.....Trammel and Malas.....PGoH Dominated and achieved thier goals.

Over time since we have lost many houses but MUCH Less than we did when there was only Felucca.

The tally which sickens me still.....is we lost 42 small houses, 6 Large Towers, 3 Large buildings and 1 Keep over the years to members who failed to fullfill thier HONORable pledge to return guild housing if they left guild or quit UO. HONOR COAST at one time INCLUDING the beach and East of shrine held 17 buildings PGoH owned and built out of 22.

In Trammel we did build up many places VERY quickly....Safe Haven (BB/Scout/Prometheus/Fing) while Mars Tower was built up by Balandar, Martok, Troy, BB, Rusty and others...further I worked with Lora, Greg and Wolf at building up Olympus area more through aquisition methods of trade/sell/purchase.

MARS TOWER was placed one night in an incredible coordinated effort from Me, Bal, Scout, BB, Troy and others.....we lifted up 6 smalls and plopped down Mars Tower (had to ask for some aid since a spawn popped in just as we did it....GM understood and cleared out the corpses). We put back down 4 other houses in that area surrounding it. There is a pic on website of Mars Tower area.

We duplicated that dominance in Malas.......the greatest player city EVER BUILT on any shard.....BUILT is different than aquired...and now after more losses we have dropped but in the origional times we had nearly 70% of the housing in Novitus Sanctum. Thats the downfall of online games though perpetual activity and membership longevity.

The capital program of securing the highest priority structures under the control of T.H.E website has insured that the PGoH Empire presence will remain unthreatened by loss.

In Trammel we had

Safe Haven (10 of 15 buildings) at the Brit Crossroads..........virtually gone now (reduced by members due to understandable cost overuns)

Olympus Area (5 direct linked buildings) with 2 Large Towers in Swamps....maintained by T.H.E, Baltazar and Steel.

Novitus Sanctum (21 of 63 buildings I think) controlled mainly by Logan, Devin, BB, Kaatya, Steel, Borg, Rusty and membership.

Large Tower History

Mars Tower(T).........liquidated and accounts refocused on expanding Olympus area.

Vulcan Tower (T).....lost to ebay sale by a member

Mercury Tower (T)...lost to ebay sale by a member

Trades Tower(T)......Baltazar now holds as personal house.....Rusty maintains a Malas unit instead.

Poseidon Tower (T)...liquidated and accounts refocused on expanding Malas area

Vulcan Tower(F)......lost to ebay sale by a member.

Poseidon Tower (F)...traded for Poseidon Tower (T)

Safe Haven Tower....liquidated for cost overruns and refocused accounts on expanding Malas area

(Safe Haven was working in conjunction with NEWBIE accounts and SEER programs...when Seer Program ended....OSI no longer needed an outlet for new players and/or storylines)

Dark Tower (T)...was constructed and decor began....no support from guild for usage....liquidated to expand website size.

Genesis Tower (F)...lost to theft by a member

Tower of Ancients (T)....Martok still maintains by Britain.

Tower of Spirits (T).......underconstruction

2 Lg Tower deeds were stolen by members who left guild also.

Overall....the top 3 members who stand out as great "builders" for the Empire are BB, Lora and Logan....without thier ENDLESS hours of teamwork (Calling off work for days straight) and thier inhuman knack for placement quickly....we would not have what we see today. BB was the best for finding places and working with my ideas for areas, Lora was greatest at negotiations....getting what we wanted after we may have failed to get an area while Logan nailed spots consistently and has been a salvation expert as o flate in maintaining spots after decay. Lora and He to this day still do that for us...or I should say Devin and Logan. I cant count how many calls I received over the years from Lora......Borg we need an account now.....*activates another account and tells Lora/BB/Logan/Balandar/Wolfy/Tok data so they can place house for guild*. Now Kaatya and Hudson have filled in where Scout and BB used to stand in terms of maintaining and preserving our area controlls......many like minded people working strongly together prove over and over.........impossible is just a longer word to say then eventually.

My thanks again go out to all who have helped build/maintain and expand our memberships options and area control......Thank you again.

In a footnote future comment.........the expansion for xmas will have a new landmass, Island based. There will be housing slots available.

My personal thought is NOT to build a city/area there for permanent existence

I would think using ANY locations as negotiation locations to trade for units NEAR Olympus and Novitus Sanctum would be the longterm and wiser/stronger option for us.

2 major areas is alot to maintain....3+ did spead us out too thin before.

Sure.....Have ONE location perhaps as a "Firebase" or "Outpost" would be a better plan longterm in the new Island...but leverage anything we do place there to get more near where we are now.

Before anything though...I think we need to increase our team numbers with good fun roleplaying friends so we can get some good Line work done and get ready for the Warlords....they will be ARMY Based enemies....using our own tactics against us...hehehe (backhanded compliment you should take it as)

So here is a question perhaps that mayhaps Colin can ask of the UO Staff, they have proposed, and to my knowledge from what I have read from UO Stratics, are going to put on the test centers an increased scale of loot on high end critters and dungeon chests. Have they not forgotten the chests that we find at sea? The Loot on the these should, in my view, go up as well. A person works their butt off to get their respective fisherman / woman up to Gm level and for what? The loot has been miserable since the gm's nerfed fishing over 3 years ago. Yeah we get different colored nets now and scales from the sea serpies, and a chance to get ropes off of krackens..... yay! Anything you can do to put a bug in their ears is appreciated.
