  1. Okay, with the changes to the pet stable, hunters can have more pets now. A whole lot more pets; 25 at level 85. That's gonna be a lotta new pet names.

I could just name them all Cat, of course, but I'd like to be a little more creative, so I figured I'd ask for some suggestions. I only picked up a few new ones last night. Here's what I've got so far:

Core Hound: I really didn't feel like finding folks to go through the PITA taming of a red one or traveling up to Drano Land to get the doggy looking one, so I got the ubiquitous green fella from SMV - http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/felbeastskingreenblack.html

Bird of Prey: In a fit of patriotism, I tamed one of the bald eagles in Grizzly Hills. Actually, I already named him Sam - http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/eagle.html

Spider: Way back in Vanilla, when I had one character, Boven, I remember wandering into Stonetalon a bit earlier than I should and having to deal with trying to get out without getting killed over and overy by the spiders there. Since I don't see many hunters with the tarantula-lookin ones, I flew up to tame one - http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/tarantulaskingreen.html

Wasp: This guy is a placeholder, really. When Cata comes and the Hive Queen is tameable again, I'll be going after her. Until then, I picked up this guy..or I guess it'd be a girl considering hive-bug lifestyles - http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/silithidwaspbossskin3.html

I'm open to any suggestions for names. There'll be more to come as I add to the collection.

  2. I changed myself to 'Tentative' last night while a bit frustrated by trying to get used to the whole Focus thing.**

If both Kailand and Sky are there, will you want one to be BM? Hunter pets have the ghetto buffs now and some are from exotic-only pets, such as the corehound's bloodlust-like raid buff.

** Ugh. After getting 2-3 shotted by anything with a mana bar in WG and trying to figure out the best way to (solo) PvE as SV without running out of focus, I just went out 'n did some Pokemanz pet collecting.

  3. Tokane has to attend a funeral on wednesday, and with evila out, and next week looking iffy, I'm just going to end the raid now instead of struggling for the next couple raids. Its been a good run everyone, and thank you all for the fun. Thanks to those who helped out when regulars couldn't show up.

    Kailand, your fearful leader.

Thank you for leading us Kailand. I don't know how you manage putting up with such a group of misfits without pulling all your hair out or losing your temper.

  4. Congratulations on your drake!

I'm sorry I didn't stay and help last night, but the headache I had, coupled with the laggy connection kinda kept me from it. I still have 8 to go on that thing

  5. Well, it does say "as a raid instance"...

Yah, though conversion to a 5man probably means a reworking of the loot tables. That could spell the end of the mounts. On the other hand, Strath still has a rare mount, so it could be the mounts will still drop in ZG.

Personally, I keep thinking about doing trying to hit ZG for a chance at a mount. Never seem to get around to it though. There's so much to be done before Cataclysm hits.

  6. I actually did this already with one of my alts but I am willing to sign anyone's charter!

Doh. Catch me online sometime. I have an inactive low level hunter alt as well as a lil level 1 Orc rogue I created on my 2nd account to sign Kailand's charter. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I gquit to sign yours.

  7. As someone who's had one for a while, just don't be surprised when that guild bank fills up fast. It's my packrat nature, I know, but dang, it's easy to load a personal guild bank up with mats and gear.

  8. Yeah, the hunter has to stack stats just for the pet and, of course, spec properly. I know they load up on some resilience for crit immunity and, of course, lots of stam.

On the plus side, the pet is near immune to aoe and doesn't really have to worry about Mystic Buffet in the last phase.

The big minuses are threat generation, since the pet pretty much only has Growl and its dps. The raid has to hold off a bit before dps'ing (just like the olden days), and needs rogues and hunters to help transfer aggro.

I'm a little surprised they didn't use a croc since they tend to do better as tanks, but I suspect they did so for the acid spit debuff.
