:) Idea: Lottery

What is the Lottery? :0

People pay into a Jack Pot for numbers they choose to be drawn at a certain time.

We set a price for each set of numbers. We e-mail our Numbers to the Assigned :)

Jackpot bank holder. They reply back a confirmation. On the lottery day the

Jack pot Holder will set a meeting place have a few witnesses around from the

Guild and make one random number draw.

The number can be posted in the forum, and the jackpot holder check his list of number to see who has a winner. If no winners, we draw again the next week ;)

Example: I buy three sets of number. Make the drawing between 1000000 to

9000000 each set of numbers cost 100 plat a piece. That 300 plat from me to the

Jackpot. Just from me now my numbers do not match the random number called on lotto day. I make the option of play theses number again, by e-mailing them to the jackpot holder, make new numbers or let my numbers drop for the next lotto day. I play the same numbers. Then next lotto day, I win. :)

Now for the guild bank to make money we give off 25% of this Jack Pot to the guild bank, and give the 75% of the pot to the winner. Now how does this work? Easy. After two lotto days I gave in 600 plat. That is just me. Now if two other members do the same (600 plat each) the pot would be up to 1800 plat. :p

The split after the winning number would be 25%(450 plat) to the guild Bank and the winner gets 75% (1350). :D

Now the more people that play the bigger the pot. This is an Idea. I would not mind trying this.

:)

The big thing we would need is records set. Deadlines for numbers to be set. And honesty from our guild members.

I look at it this way. if you dont want to play, you lose nothing. if you do play you building the guild bank and making someone a little closer to buying new armor or stuff. ;)

Not a bad idea.... but why not just donate to the guild bank then if you are doing something like this. Technically you should be helping the guild bank in terms of pp without any extra benefit to yourself. The idea of helping the guild should be enough incentive for everyone of us to donate.

Good point,

I guess In my opinion, is that it would give me an incentive to see if the luck of the draw wins in my favor.

and it would help out the guild and who ever wins the jackpot.

when your just giving your money to the guild bank. it helps with our raids. sure. but I, myself have not seen a copper given to someone for equipment or other stuff. (I was promised a set of e-boots one time. but this must of been forgotten. I'm not upset with this.) hell, I camp a good month and a half to build up enough plat for the ones I have. this is not the point. though.

The point is trying to beat the luck of the draw. and contributing to two good causes.

One the guild.

and Two to a lucky guild mate who wins the jackpot.

Why dont you just donate? Hmmmm Well because I hate to say it but most people will not just "donate" it takes getting something in return, or the chance to get something in return. The Vague chance of the guild doing something for the people that show interest by helping is not a tangible enough objective to get people to "donate". What people Should do and what they do are usually two different tings. Anyway, It sounds like a cool idea.... I am not much of a Lottory person but who knows I may be.... :)

The whole point of putting money in the guild bank is so that the guild can fund raids (buying peridots, etc) as well as being able to aid people in upgrading their armor. If people want to do this one their own, that's fine, but if it's for the guild it should all go to the guild. The guild bank isn't some void where money goes and never returns. If enough is saved up, bigger and better things can happen than if people only save up for themselves. I just realized that sounded wrong. I know that I want to save up my money for myself, but I also want to help raise money for the guild bank. I plan on supporting Rumblebore's idea of a "work day," and I also plan on helping Eldoran do a MQ to quest for something for the guild bank. This is something I worked hard to get for myself, but I'm willing to give it up for the guild, if it can help Eldoran and the guild as a whole. So, as for the lottery, I'm for it, but the money earned should all be given to the guild bank if that is the purpose.

Because I got caught up in tells while in game, and didnt get back to novawop on this, I will continue with what I had said to him.

As for the idea, I will not make a decisive comment about its value to the guild due to the following info.

For years I lived spending money hand-over-fist and put myself in a deep debt hole. I finally came around and put myself on a budget which I have lived on and off of for years. But I am now in sight of the end of the Rainbow. Perhaps in 12-16 months I will be totally debt free, depending on what other things happen within those months. (Stuff comes up all the time).

I personally do not gamble except a once a month try for the california lottery. I allow myself that much. I have taken to disliking gambling since several things I participated in when younger were along those lines and it helped me into debt (not big things like weekends in Vegas, but still, it was a waste of money). So, such activity for me is not desirable nor wise. I lose far more than I gain.

So, this idea is something I would not participate in.

Whether it is a good idea for the guild or not, I will stay away from answering that question. For ME and ME only, the idea has no value nor do I have the desire to participate.

So Novawop, I mean no disrespect nor to junk this idea. It should be examined and responded to, but for me and my house, I will not participate when it does get implemented.

:p Rumble, I feel Your Pain. And understand the reason for not trying an idea that has to do with what you call "gambling" yes in a sense it is. ???

gamble defined: ;)

1 a : to play a game for money or property b : to bet on an uncertain outcome

2 : to stake something on a contingency : take a chance

so in a sence it taking a chance to win or lose money sitting in ones bank. unless you borrow money from others and put yourself in debt . that would be a problem. i would understand if i had to send my hommies from rivervale to come and rough you up. J/K

:) but seriously this is for those who would like to do it. I am not asking for all people to participate in it if they do not want to. its voluntary, for those who would like to do it. :D

but now another thing comes to mind. :D your feelings for gambing will keep you from playing a lottery. ok qewl. but now, In the game we kill people, animals, summoned creature and each other. does this mean that in the real world these are also an option to make cash?!? ;) or is it just in the game that its ok to do. since its not really hurting anyone. :sword:

Real Life does effect how we perceive life in the game. ;) And I will beat up anyone who wants to put down your beliefs, rumble. So understand I'M here for anyone who needs help in our guild and outside our guild when RL lets me. hell, if my body parts could detach, I'd give any one an arm and a leg. :D (hopefully I'd be useful as bait to lure prey into an awaiting guild trap.) anyway rumble I'm like a chuckie doll "freinds to the end bro" :D

There is two folds to this Idea.

One: for the guild (25%) of a jackpot.

two: for someone to win (75%) of a jackpot.

Its just an idea.

something like this would help the lesser fortunate people ;) (like me and others, i know)make some cash. for things they could use.

I'm Just trying to get something that would help others and guild going. Must be harder to get off the ground then i thought. :D

I do not want to say yay or nay to this idea

However, I do want to say this, it would be away for people in the guild to have a chance at making money without farming and at the same make the guild bank some money

But also consider this, does the guild want to make it's money through gambling? if this goes through will the next idea to go through along these lines be a guild based casino? if so does the guild as a whole want to make it's plat through the misfortune of others?

If people would like to do this idea, I would stress the fact that it needs to stay within the guild and only at this

uhmm went off on a confusing tangent lol.

As to what I would do if this idea did go through-I would pay 100P a week to pick a number set just for the heck of it lol. I mean what the heck it is 100P from which the guild automatically gets a percentage and I have a chance of getting something out of it

I think that another name for this "lottery" would be Membership fees or dues.

I try to fund Shan (and Lola and Net and whomever) with stuff I get while grouped as Baldaek. So far, I have managed to acquire a small fortune in plat which has been funneled into the nice 'trinkets' that Shansa wears, and the KEI that Lola and Jasmen buy every few hours. While I don't dissuade anyone from these novelties (Lottery, Work Day, etc.) I can't see my participation 'growing' in enlarging the Guild Bank.

For the past 2 and half years someone has asked what items were in the Guild Bank, but, except for one time, we haven't seen the spread. I should try once more... what, may I ask, is in the guild bank? Is it just cash? Or do we stock gems and tradeskill items and quest pieces too?

My stake in the continued success of SLoT is at an all-time high. I have designs for the guild too, more than just what I need out of it (granted, I have taken no more out of it than simply grouping with fellow guildies for more than the past year), I want to see it soar! But relying on one or two tricks to build a fund that will ultimately support only a few select people/characters is not my idea of good for the team.

that is my point. I would donate that amount of plat(100 or more) to better my odds of winning just to see if I win. or to see another lucky person win the pot. it would be for fun.

OK look at is this way. if i ask for donation for a 100 plats from the guild ,who would help me out?

HMMMM? I would say maybe four people i know would help me, maybe more. but now if a lottery idea would fly. then its the chance of seeing,

who would get it,

if someone wins and/or

how high the pot can get before someone wins.

if my money goes to a worthy cause i give it. hell i've been giving those Bracelet of the Spiritcharmer(6 of them) tothe guild and asking the guild to find me something nice for my druid.

I dont beg. i wont beg.(unless its windiien). and the idea of a lottery as a idea seemed nice. if it stays in our guild and one honest person is the jackpot holder(that would not be me, not that i am not worthy, i dont want to called a cheat)

this would be like bingo in the church. do they call that gambling???

Yes, they do. However, because of the separation of church and state thingy set up a few years back, it's somewhat legal. (Plus church's say they're Non-Profit Organizations, so the winnings don't line the pockets of any one person, but go back into the community at large - which is similar to what is being proposed here)
