  1. I looked at the roster and here is what SoC consists of: Comments: Race - seems like a good ratio of races. Gender - no wonder those Orc boys are cranky! Class - also looks reasonable, but no Troll Mages? (No one wants to throw fireballs at humies? You can cook them while you clomp them! ) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I looked at this to see what I could play to be helpful to the group. I am interested in playing in the SoC, but I want to try a lot of the game - test out all the races and classes. Sounds like you can have up to 8 characters per account and they can all be on the same server (maybe). To get an idea of all all races and classes I think I may try the following: Orc - Warlock and Warrior Troll - Shaman (and Rogue maybe) Tauren - Druid (and Hunter maybe) Undead - Mage (and Priest maybe) Human - Paladin Dwarf - Priest Gnome - Rogue Night Elf - Hunter Question - the Undead is in the Horde. I see the SoC rules are "never party with Undead". Why? Roleplaying reasons only? Holdover from UO times? Another question: Of the 42 SoC signed up, I imagine a few found the site, signed up, and promptly forgot about it. Some may spring to life once WoW is released, and return to the board, but others wont. What group of SoC people are the bosses confident they can count on? Everyone above Peon? Not counting Peons the stats are: Race Orc 10 Tauren 3 Troll 2 Gender Male 15 Female 0 Class Druid 1 Hunter 2 Priest 0 Rogue 3 Shaman 2 Warlock 2 Warrior 5 Mage 0 Paladin 0 Last question: Anyone listing more than one character in the Roster or is it a 1 player = 1 character list? What if we plan to play a few characters? Thanks in advance for any answers!!
  2. WoW trailer download page Guess this was released on the 24th (6/24). The download page says 12/7/2004 is the release date. Is that known fact, new news or misinformation?
  3. I read in the FAQ that Turkey is considered part of Europe and can participate, but nowhere does it say people from N. America CAN'T get in the beta. Is it Europe only? Here's the link: Blizzard UK
  4. Very generous offer Nenia!! Vexica was looking for a place to put her avatar - that wouldn't take much space. I offered to host that as well. It gets to be a tougher issue if people want to put bigger stuff up (or lots of pictures). One example of that is Soke has made a music video of City of Heroes stuff, but it is 30 MB. Not sure who could host that or where... Balandar - the link to the image is visible because it isn't to imagedump - it is to my site!
  5. Hmmm, well that is a start, but it isn't really the ideal solution. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't believe imagedump will let you post something there and link to it from here. So, it does allow you to store pictures and put up a link to them. (You click the link, and go to imagedump, and say "yes" I want to see the picture, and then it is displayed.) That is a bit laborious, but it does work. For some stuff. (Thanks for posting the link Chris, some people may not know about imagedump!) But what if you want a custom avatar? You need a direct link that displays in an embedded way. Imagedump pretty much lets you do this: http://www.w5corp.com/images/CoH_DashZero_Thumb3.gif But it won't let you do this:
  6. There have been a few questions recently about posting pictures (see the CoH area). Any chance this site could open up some Megs for picture space for some of the regular users? Other ideas?

    New Game

City of Heroes is fun, fast and simple for a MMORPG. Some compare it to Diablo, but I din't play enough Diablo to know how much that is true. It is a great chance of pace from the swords and sorcery realm and it is (dare I say it?) somewhat genre breaking. Give it a shot!
  8. Ug! Hi all, help me out here. Is it true that WoW is still about 6 months or so from release? If so it is boggling how much info you guys have already generated. Where should I start if I am sort of "window shopping"? I played a little Warcraft, but I am not the strongest RTS gamer. (I always get pissed that some poor schmuck is standing there waiting for instruction, and I have ignored him for 20 minutes...) Anyway - I thought I would be a SWG devotee for years, but City of Heroes is winning in my book right now. So why WoW? what draws you to it? Is SOC going to be a RP guild? See ya!

    Bartle Test

I have taken this before and feel I can see through the questions to know how they affect the test. (They are fairly transparent...) So, I don't trust that this is perfectly accurate. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Your type is: SEK. 3% of respondents so far fall into that type. Your answers were split as follows: Socializer 73% Explorer 60% Killer 40% Achiever 26% ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ One of my favorite articles in this area is People who suit MUDS which is written by a guy named Bartle - I guess this test is his? Anyway the article talks about how the 4 types interact within an online game. It helped me understand why there will always be whiners on message boards, and why a game company should consider it a GOOD thing. (No whining = dead game.)
  10. Hi Hothgorn! I will add a bunch of you guys to my friends list and see if we are at all "level compatible".
  11. Hail and well met! I have teamed up with Vexica Rose a few times and even had her in my SuperGroup for a couple days before she relayed that she was joining Dark Virtue. I made my SuperGroup sort of as a test (seems every hero that hits 10th level makes a supergroup just to try it out) but I am really looking for a strong community of mature, light RPG, gamers. Vex sent me the link and it looks like we might have a good fit here! I picked up CoH on a whim - my buddy that plays Anamalech hyped it - and it is fast, light, entertaining and enjoyable. SWG has really become difficult to play now as the pace seems dramatically slower. Waiting for the shuttle, waiting for a buff, waiting for everyone else to buff...all the while thinking "I could have gained a level in CoH in this time!". Man, I thought SWG would be the best thing ever! I played UO for 2 years and assumed that SWG would be my MMORPG of choice for far longer. With only SWG on my computer, it was engrossing, and fully engaging - I got through 17 professions on my quest to unlock. But now, with 2 MMORPG icons on my desktop I find the SWG icon gathering dust while the CoH one gathers clicks! I would like the chance to hook up with you all and see if we have fun. Look for 'Like Totally' online, I want to get her to 14th level so she has Teleport. As a gnarly healer, she is, like, a toon that everyone seems to want to, like, group with, ya know? See you in game!
