  1. I will be quite happy to volunteer my services for the transporting of potential clients
  2. With the many new faces coming into the Empire and the Legion, and some resulting confusion, I thought it might be in our interests to relook at the hierarchy structure of our Legion. So in short, the following applies. 1) SOW 2) Imperator 3) Centurion 4) Phalanx 4b) All ranked citizens -> (Senate,Magistrates, etc. etc) 5) Knight The exceptions to this are when an event is planned and promoted by an individual, or when the ranking authority at a Legion event defers to a lower ranked party. I hope this is of assitance to our younger members whom expressed some confusion. It will become like second nature for you in time. Strength ..and Virtue Maven uth Mateur Heran Knight
  3. Bag-Ball: The basic concept and general guidelines for play. The concept of Bag-Ball has been known to the individuals of Sosaria for some time. Strangely enough its true roots date not back to an attempt at a sport..but of necessity. The moving of large quantities of material (i.e weight) quickly was often practiced by tradesman. Perhaps to a bank for storage, perhaps to a forge for processing. Opposition to this movement is in itself not a new concept, as an opportunistic soul would try to seize on this opportunity. The game is played on a field approximately 23 paces long, 15 paces wide. It has a half-way line marked as well as two goal posts approximately 3 paces located at each end of the field. The game is played by two teams, each team comprising of three to four players. The 'ball' is a bag containing a large number of logs or other suitable material, so that it is impossible to carry, but it is possible to drag and throw the bag short distances. The game starts with both teams on opposite sides of the field, near their own goal. The ball is placed at the center of the half-way line, and both teams are then given the signal, after which play begins and both teams lunge toward the center line, hoping to keep the bag on the opposition's side of the field as much as possible. Goals are scored by throwing the bag over the oppositions goal-line, having first thrown it on the line itself. This gives the opportunity for players to clear the bag before it is thrown over for a goal.
  4. Bag-Ball All of us, I am sure, have seen the unusually shaped containers referred to as Bag-Balls. While many of us have seen these and understand the basic concepts of the sport I am not sure how many have attempted to play. I for one was quite skeptical until I actually had an opportunity to participate in a minor match. It is actually quite enjoyable. With the permission of our wise leadership and council I would like to initiate an event were the Empire’s membership as a whole can participate and experience ,first hand, the game of Bag-Ball. Arcane Centurion Kal’ Lason, our resident expert on the sport, has agreed to show members the basic concepts of the game. Perhaps, if it is found to be an enjoyable exercise, such an event can continue on a regular basis within our order, with opportunities for expansion to the world beyond. One of the most noteworthy aspects of Bag-Ball is that it is one of the few group events that can be organized that is not dependant on your combat ability. Anyone from a tradesman, master swordsman, to a arcane magi, can participate with equal effectiveness. But, It does require a quick spirit, a keen mind for strategy, and an emphasis on teamwork to be successful. Again, with the permission of our leadership, I would like to reserve the time immediately following our guild-meeting on the 7th of March for a look at this sport and its merits as a event, and ultimately how enjoyable it is to the guild as a whole.

  7. They had failed, the sadness that passed through Mavens heart as this thought pushed through his mind was numbing. They had forsaken everything in order to grasp at this dubious lead. Unfortunately dubious had transformed into nothing and their attempts had been for vain. The brothers DarKnight had left everything behind, their homes, their duties, their responsibilities in order to chase down a lead given to them by a senile old crone. They were returning now, to the mainland, although some time they had before reaching the continent they called home. They all wondered how they would be received by those they had left behind. Those whom they had not shared a word of their endeavor. Maven had attempted to return prior to now; once their failure was evident, but on the far side of the realm of Sosaria, to the dark continent they traveled…the magic allowing him to return him at the sound of a word had failed him. He looked over his brothers, so varied a lot as they were and sighed heavily. They would never be the same. For in a strange quirk or coincidence. Fate perhaps…they felt truly a part of the ship they had called home these many months. For the ship they traveled upon had been named “The Morning Light"
  8. Maven uth Mateur, sat quietly in his new chambers at Fortress Olympus. Gently, he gathered, sorted, and organized his brother’s belongings. Each item bringing to his mind, some memory or recollection of events. Some brought a smile to his face while others a tear to his eyes. Through the actions of the Legion, the Empire was once again whole. The Emperor, although shaken and perhaps affected in ways that he would ever remember, had returned to them. Time would tell if his ordeal, enduring the Drows sweet mercies, would have a long term affect upon him psychically or mentally. For Maven, the Empire was not the only thing to be made whole again. With the death of Steel the DarKnight family had returned together to mourn, old scores and grievances had been settled or forgotten, and for some new paths may very well lie ahead. Maven, Raven, Silver, Verite, and Val would all gather together this eve to lay their brother to rest. Verite, whom had served as a mercenary all his life far removed from his kin, seemed the most affected by Steels death. Tearfully he swore to his brothers that he would start anew and seek to walk the path of righteousness. Time would tell, when the mourning past, if the lure of gold and fame had truly left his spirit. Raven, who had traveled the land almost whimsically had seemed to gain purpose. For him he would no longer travel the lands singing tales of others adventures. He would, he proclaimed, make his own tales. No longer would the fate of Sosaria be left to others to guard. Silver, had remained ever cold and distant since his brothers loss. Late into the night he could be heard working in his shop. The sound of his hammer ringing constantly through the eve. Val, the youngest of the brothers, worked to complete his training in the art of battle. Within him could be seen a new passion and fire. No longer would his elder brother be his mentor. His future, no longer certain, was his own to forge. With this loss, he had gained motivation and determination. I myself, he pondered, must walk a new path. For most of his life, he had lived carefree. Although a member of the Legion, he had never in the past concerned himself with politics of the realms, nor the matters of military order. Those matters were left with others more senior then himself. Now, he thought, those very burdens are mine to bear. For the Empire as a whole, a transition would need to take place; those whom had followed would now be needed to lead. New recruits would come, and the Empire would continue to grow. But a solid foundation would need to be formed for the current success to be continued. Wiping a tear from his eye, Maven completed his grim work. Only one last task remained before him, and as such it was the one he most dreaded, to bring his brothers body to his place of final rest. Maven proceeded slowly to the highest tower of Olympus were Steel had been laid in state. His body had been magically sealed and preserved so that the affects of time and decay would not have an effect upon his now lifeless form. It was mentioned by some that a grand tomb should be erected to house his body as a symbol of the Empire and the Legion. A lesson of sacrifice for the greater good of all. Maven looked downward, Steel would have never approved for such to be done. Pausing outside the door to the mausoleum, Maven took a deep breath. To this point, he had avoided viewing Steels body for fear of showing fear and sadness at the time strength was what was needed. He wasn’t sure if he would react any better now that some time had passed. Taking another breath, he opened the door. That breath suddenly rushed from his body as a loud yell came from his lips. Almost falling he grasped the side of the doorway and hunched over, his eyes spread wide in shock, as he looked into the shadowy room. Steels body was no were to be seen…..
  9. *nods* Well, if nothing else, we were introduced to Geraldo Rivera. Now 15 or more years later............. we cant get rid of him. I will never forget how much he dramitized the event, and when it flopped how he tried to play it up. Heh.
  10. Sitting quietly in his quarters, Maven gathers his ink and quill to prepare an order for Legion distribution. Guardians, On this day, based on recent event, we must assume that Cheblis is either possessed, cursed, or has turned from the path of Honor. Per this notice, the Guardians highest priority is to investigate this event, and determine its cause. All available resources are to be used to this end. If possible, Cheblis is to be incarcerated until a full investigation can be completed. If Cheblis resists attempts of peaceful subdue you have authorization to use force. If, he, through his actions puts Guardians lives at risk, you are herby authorized to use deadly force. Effective immediately. As for command ops of this investigation, Decurion Kodoz has been given authority as theatre commander regarding all matters concerning this investigation. 11. I am pleased to announce that Akroma, the lady Centurion of the Dragoons has hereby been promoted to Imperator. Akroma, has been a longstanding member of our order and during her time, through various positions, has served with Honor. I cannot speak highly enough of her valor, courage, and stability. Her promotion, it is hoped, will assist all of us in forming the foundation of a strong Legion. I thank all of you in advance, for your assistance and full cooperation with Akroma as she begins her new duties and responsibilities. Akroma, the best words of advise that I can pass to you, are the ones I have passed to many in one form or other. "For titles do not reflect honor upon men, but rather men on their titles." - Nichole Machiavelli (Macchiavelli) Lead well Imperator. Signed and effective, this day 10/30/03 Maven uth Mateur Senator of War Pro-Temp.

  13. I am pleased to announce that the following initiates to the Legion have been found worthy of promotion. To those whom have been promoted, Congratulations, but know that this is the first and easiest step. True acceptance to our order comes with your next step. The title of Legionnaire is intended as a testing phase. This period allows you to become familiar with our order, our structure, our rules, and our personnel. It also allows us to gauge you and your morality. All legionnaires are watched with caution to ascertain that they are not a threat to the empire, be it the guardians themselves, or the reputation we have built over the ages. The next step, Squire hood, requires active participation on your part to advance. You will be tested in various ways to determine weather or not you are worthy of becoming a true part of the Legion. Knighthood. Promoted to Squire Squire Sojourn = Dragoon Squire Qwabbit = Arcane Squire Rico = Dragoon Squire Alister McGregor = Arcane Signed and approved this day, 10/27 Maven uth Mateur S.o.W. Pro-Temp.
  14. I am pleased to announce that the following members of the Legion have been found, by their actions, worthy of promotion. With these appointments, it is hoped that a solid foundation of leadership, stability, and participation will be laid. As Guardians, we have taken the first step in rebuilding the Empire. But now that this step is completed, we find ourselves upon our next step. In any Order or Guild, to be successful, one must not have only one or two “leaders”. In order to succeed many sub-leaders must step forward and take up the challenges of their roles. True leaders are not leaders because of “titles” The “titles” come after they lead. "For titles do not reflect honor upon men, but rather men on their titles." - Nichole Machiavelli (Macchiavelli) Hudson – Heran Phalanx Hudson, a old veteran of the realm, has shown the ability to lead. Even, if he himself has yet to realize it. Always willing to lend a hand, or give of himself to others, I am sure he will fill his role well. Kaatya – Shadowrider Phalanx Kaatya, is another veteran of the realm. She rewards those around here with her company and her spirit. If ever needed or requested, she has come through with flying colors. Kal’ Lason – Arcane Phalanx Kal ‘ Lason, is young and willful, full of spirit and determination. Time will tell if this young spirited energy will be pushed towards positive goals. Young Guardian, your test comes now. Kendarick – Dragoon Phalanx Kendarick, the young swordsman is the living symbol of what the Guardians represent. Honorable, courageous, and loyal, he reminds me most of my brother in his younger years. Strength and Honor Guardians. Maven uth Mateur S.o.W. ProTemp.
  15. Bishop, To the best of my knowledge, the easiest way is to buy from a NPC. You could harvest the needed wool, but such is a long process.
  16. Games paused for Comcast subscribers David Becker (Staff Writer, CNET News.com ) reports : Many subscribers to Comcast's high-speed cable Internet service were unable to access popular online games last weekend, due to a software glitch in some routers the company used. Comcast broadband customers who also subscribe to online games such as "EverQuest" and "Ultima Online" reported in online forums and elsewhere that they were unable to log into the games as of Friday afternoon, with any attempt to connect greeted with a message saying the game server was unavailable. A Comcast representative confirmed that the problem was with the cable company. A routine upgrade of the software some Comcast routers use inadvertently blocked access to certain server ports, the representative said, adding that the problem was fixed late Monday. ISPs commonly use port-blocking rules to restrict access to a server that may be generating hacking attacks or other objectionable activity. The Comcast representative said the company had no estimate of how many customers were affected by the glitch, but online user forums for several online games had numerous Comcast-related complaints. Angela Bolton, a college student in Kent, Wash., and a subscriber to Electronic Arts' "Ultima Online" game, said she had repeatedly tried to log into the game since Saturday without success.
