  1. The word of the day is FUN.

If you stop having FUN its time to step back take a breather and remember how to have FUN.

There is no shame in taking a break so that you can do what the game is actually intended for which is having FUN.

So do I really need to say go out and have some ... ?

See you when things are a bit more relaxed for you!

  2. In a nutshell, DVD is better for quality picture and sound.  SVCDs however are usable on most dvd players AND cd-roms.  CDs are cheaper.  DVD reportedly has a longer life expectance.  Those are the biggest differences and benefits.

Good place to start or refrence:  http://www.videohelp.com/dvd

Good community, wont treat you like an idiot and will try to be very clear/simple.

OH!  If you dont plan to keep the shows, I suggest SVCD format on a CD-RW.  Save your DVDs for home movies or something else you want to keep a long time/make many copies of.

Im planning on keeping what I actually do transfer over (gonna build up some kid shows for the little ones as well as some things like Mythbusters Backyard Habitat etc. For the real good stuff like BSG and SG I will still pay the good money to get em in pretty packages with all the extras.

  3. I have Paintshop Pro 7.0 and I am trying to take a simple bacround color and make it look glossy. I have no idea how to do this at all...

Is there anyone out there that plays around with graphics and can maybe send me a PM explaining how I go about doing this? I do not want any texture to it just a glossy sheen.

  4. Got my copy from Wal-Mart cause my daughter wanted to see it TODAY. Like a lil princess she is more interested in the love story running through Ep. 1-3 than the cool saber fights. Needless to say I think she has probably seen all the Star Wars films more than most people. Now if I can only get her hooked on Star Trek......

  5. Is there a difference in the quality of mpeg files saved to SVCD compared to DVD?

I have made two SVCD of programs I had TiVO'd and the image quality isnt nearly as good on TV as it is on the PC or even when watching it directly from TiVO.  Right now I am using Nero to create the SVCD maybe I'm missing something in the actual creation process where I can select quality or "clean up" the video file before burning.  I haven't made a DVD yet to test if this might make a difference in quality.  To be honest I'm new to all this so any advice would be awesome.

Ok found some quality settings Automatic, Standard, Long Play and High Quality. It defaults to automatic so maybe that does not mean "good quality" so I will play with that. I can also select the sample format. The selections here are Progressinve, Interlaced (top first), Interlaced (bottom first) and Automatic. Again not sure what automatic defaults to but is any of the choices better than the other? The last setting I saw was for the encoding mode. There was fast (1-pass) and high quality (2-pass VBR). Im gonna check out some sites but as I said in the above post any assistance would be sweet.

  7. too many people at the theater talking about it supposedly not having any plot... I wished I could throw them into the movie

The plot sure it had a plot. See how big a gun you can get and fire it repeatedly. People who do not get Doom didn't understand the videogame.....

That game had nothing to do with the endpoint .... ever ...... It was all about getting weapons and mass carnage. The movie delivered exactly what the videogame did. Senseless violence.

I saw Serenity on Friday it was awesome. Can't wait for the sequel (if they make one which is dependant on overall profits from this one).

  9. Does it send everything, or only what it thinks might be a hack/cheat.

From what I read Sei seems to have summed it up pretty well. They may not use all the info they get but the ability to see all you are doing on your PC is very much there. How they can legally do this I dunno but for once I am glad I am not playing a game!

  10. Gamer bois and gurlz ...

I got me a new job today.

I get to work amongst all that is holy to me - video games and movies. Yep, I'm a store clerk at the local GameStop.

Has this granted me a slight promotion in the Geekdom?

    :D

All Hail Uber Geek Hawt Gamer Girl!
