World of Warcraft Beta sign-ups start Wednesday

Blizzard will soon begin accepting submissions to test its upcoming MMORPG.

Blizzard software has announced that it will soon begin accepting applications for the beta test of its upcoming massive multiplayer online role-playing game, World of Warcraft. According to the Blizzard Web site, gamers can start signing up as of 6pm PST on Wednesday, January 28th. Unfortunately, the first phase of beta-testing will only accept applications from Canada, Korea, and the US. "The test for Europe and other countries around the world will happen later this year," said a message on the Blizzard site.

The World of Warcraft sign-up period will end one week later end on Wednesday, February 4th at 6:00 pm PST. However, according to Blizzard, "Testers are not going to be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis, so you will be able to submit an application and receive equal consideration anytime during the signup period."

World of Warcraft is a fantasy-themed MMORPG based on Blizzard's best-selling Warcraft series. However, instead of real-time strategy combat , the game will emphasize questing and character development, as well as orc-hewing and foe-slaying. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's preview.

Don't rush to sign-up. You have a week. It's NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT first come first serve. I know you're excited but we have it a week so people don't have to rush. Relax, you'll live longer - Arnold

No problems signing up today. Also, do not worry about having a cheat sheet. They do not ask any questions about "Why do you wish to beta test our game", etc. There is nothing that can make you unique from others that are testing. Looks like they will be doing a purely random sample based on system specs alone. They do ask if you have tested some other games and your longest subscription to one.

If anyone does get in, they wont be able to say anything outside beta testers forums on blizzards website. Thats asuming they do what SWG did and make a beta testers forum. They will have a Non-disclsoure agreement that you have to agree with everytime you sign on. So in other words, we won't be eligible to say. The only people who can tell you are Blizzard employees.
