Fellow Guildmates!

In the days to come, please stay tuned. The formulation of a PVP Chess Tournament is to come into creation. I will soon create a separate page that will contain rules and the sort. So far here is what I have:

:::Rules:::

(1) All moves are final.

(2) No healing

(3) No summoning

(4) No magical items

(5) All warriors must wield kite shield

(6) Mage always casts attacking or defending spells first.

(7) The first move shall be determined by dice: Odds=Red, Even=Blue

(8) An attacking spell is when a mage casts a spell on the opponent whose square they are trying to get to.

(9)A defending spell is when a mage casts a spell on the opponent who is trying to move into their square.

(10) When it is your teams turn to move, your King or Queen must call out your move by use of coordinates (B2:B3, D3:D4, etc.)

:::Team Components:::

(A) One referee from each guild.

(B) Each guild forms two Parties consisting of:

First Party - 1-king, 1 rook, 1 knight, 1 bishop, 4 pawns.

Second Party - 1-queen, 1 rook, 1 knight, 1 bishop, 4 pawns.

Queen and King may contact each other via pidgeon to discuss strategy.

:::Player Components::: (for each guild team)

1 -The King (Warrior Only)

Full plate armor (red or blue cape and doublet)

Any choice of weapon

1 -The Queen (Warrior or Mage)

Full leather armor (red or blue cape and fancy dress)

If warrior, any choice of weapon

If mage, can cast four attacking or defending spells

2 -Rook (Mage Only)

Can cast multiple number of offending spells in correlation to spaces moved, cannot cast defending spells.

Full leather armor (Must hold spell book, red or blue doublet)

2 -Knight (Warrior Only)

Resistant to all magic.

Full chainmail Armor, (Must wield sword, horse, red or blue doublet)

2 -Bishop (Mage Only)

Can cast three attacking or defending spells

Full leather armor (red or blue robe)

8 -Pawns (Warrior Only)

Full ringmail armor, any choice of weapon (red or blue doublet)

This will of course take place at the Nu'jelm Chess Board.

I am not sure if this should take place in Trammel or Felucca.

I am not sure if temporary war status should be issued for this event.

Let me hear all of your opinions and suggestions! Thanks.

WOOOT! Battle chess in UO! Boy I loved that game.

This sounds very interesting. Kind of confused though.... Now, are the pieces (players) moving just like chess pieces into the square....and then they fight with the person in that square? So then....whoever wins takes over that square?

I think that due to the nature, we should make arrangements to have temporary highlight for this event. We can advise guild via boards of the duration, so those that do not involve themselves, don't get caught by surprise on the healing issue if they're out adventuring. It will allow for a smoother game in my opinion without the risk of criminal flags or other unneccessary potential headaches. I personally am looking forward to this as it sounds like a lot of fun

Haha! :)

I said this would be an INTER-guild competition.. not an INNER-guild competition..

The idea has been presented to T9C. They are also excited about this prospect. Concerning the time designation. One of the rules has been modified to allow the competition to last for 2 hours, after which, the guild with the most pieces standing -claims victory.

I have sent a message to Borg, we will need to verify the ability to issue the war command.
