Admiral Miller

Found this quote, in a reply to one of my threads I put up today:

It is probably a good idea to have both adventurers and naval officers in your guild. Not that an all navy guild would be ineffective, but a mix makes your guild more flexible.

Pirate guilds will all be pirates, because the pirate 'nation' has only one career available.

This means that we can have both Navy and Adventurer characters in the guild, contrary to what I was thinking was the case. I may actually make Admiral Miller a Navy character- perhaps heading the "legitimate backing" of the guild?

Jon- you were wanting to play privateer, yes? Perhaps you could head the Business/Shady side of the thing, if you are so inclined? Or perhaps we should switch those roles? Something we should discuss. For RP purposes I think it might be nice for us two leaders to head what will be the two main branches of the guild... or perhaps even three. Which raises the question:

How many branches? I'm seeing two options here. This is all pretty much for RP purposes...

1) A three leader system. Andrew- would you maybe be interested in forming this into a tri-leader thing? Here's why: Three branches. A) Navy. B) Privateering/Shady operations. C) The Merchants Guild. I find all three roles very interesting. The Navy boss would be in charge of rationing escorts to the Privateers (who I think cannot use Ships of the Line) and the merchants, during convoys, raids, etc. The Privateer head would be a secondar escort rationer, and raid planner. Coordinated privateering. The Merchant head would organize convoys, and other such trade operations. I like this idea, alot.

2) The two leader system we are currently defaulting to. As it stands, I believe James and Charles are mutual partners from a yet to be roleplayed business contract. Honestly, I'm not certain this is fair to Andrew, seeing as he arrived on the scene only a few days later. However, Andrew, I have no inkling as to whether or not you'd even want to take a higher leadership role, and indeed, it would take some dedication.

My standing, in the end, is the leave this up to whoever would be willing to take up a higher leadership position. Whether it be Andrew, or anyone else that might arrive in the near future. I favor my first idea, as it lends to a more interesting interaction. It of course requires three people that are willing to take their respective roles- someone who wants to play navy, someone who wants to play privateer, and someone to wants to play merchant boss. As I said, all three sound interesting to me, and I would be willing to play either. Currently though, I am leaning toward Navy or Privateer as it suits my character best. I am not going to force this at all, just an idea!

Thoughts?
