An Idea for pet summoning

Recommended Posts

In reading stratics today I came across this:

Summoning bonded pets was removed from publish 16 for 2 reasons:

1. It required a large effort to implement in the "Summon Creature spell" form.

2. It is highly likely the summoning of bonded pets will be implemented with a design that does not require magery. This design would likely happen in the near future.

I earlier read a post by our own Borg concerning sculpting which can be found in this thread:

Additions to sculpting

Now lets add Brightblades creative thoughts....

Imagine a tamer going to his or her favorite sculptor and commisioning them to make a statuette of thier pet.  THe sculptor then contacts his or her Inscriptionist/Animal Lore expert and has plans drawn up.  The sculptor then takes these plans along with wood or granite etc (perhaps add durability to these statues (allow them to wear randomly much like the fire horns are designed to keep a viable market, wood being weakest and valorite being the most durable*) and a part of a like animal which will become the statue (i.e. dragon scale, #### hound ash, mare meat, etc.) and crafts the statue.  To complete the process the tamer then takes the statue and applies it to the pet.  Allow a chance for failure depending on the tamers overall skill sets with failure resulting in a chance of the statue breaking due to magical strains.

The statue could then be double clicked to store the pet if it is on the same screen (pet in a bag) Perhaps have a 10 second delay here and it can not be initiated if the pet is aggroed at the statue activiation and will stop if the pet is ordered to attack or guard during the transformation.  To summon the pet one just double clickds the statue and poof a second or two later the pet reappears with the same stats etc it went into statue form with.

* note the use of wood might make crafting easier and more successful while the use of colored stone might require more attempts.  Failure would result in loss of all resources being used.
