  1. I wrote about this in my blog a bit, but wanted to post a marked-up Org map here as well to help folks out, and give a short list of where to find the stuff that's been moved. The new Orgrimmar hasn't changed a ton overall, but there are some significant changes that will leave you feeling lost for a few days. Here's the map: Moved: Thrall GONE! You'll see him again in the Maelstrom! Grommash Hold Smack-dab in the middle of the Valley of Strength. Garrosh is located there, as well as the archaeology trainer. Flight master and zep towers Now located on the rise directly behind Grommash Hold and above the Cleft of Shadow. The flying trainer, flying mount vendor, and city reputation vendors are located there as well. You can reach it via any one of three elevators: Directly behind Grommash Hold, near the ramps leading up to the Goblin Slums area. At the entrance to The Drag from the Valley of Strength. On the ramp leading to the upper level of The Drag as you're coming from the Valley of Wisdom (this one's tricky to find at first). [*]Engineering trainer Moved to The Drag in the building next to the entrance to the Cleft of Shadow. [*]Bank There are multiple banks, with each valley area having one. The VoS bank is now located to the southwest of Grommash Hold. [*]Auction House There are multiple auction houses, with each valley area having one. The VoS AH is located roughly where it used to be, but looks different. [*]Guildmaster/Guild Vendor Located outside of and along the west wall of Grommash Hold under some tents. The guild vendor is new and worth looking at. [*]First Aid Trainer Is now a goblin and located in the Goblin Slums area along the south wall (next to the priest trainer). [*]Portal to the Blasted Lands/Dark Portal There are two of these now - one in the Cleft of Shadow and one in the Valley of Spirits (troll area). Both locations also boast mage trainers now, incidentally. [*]Target dummies Located in the Valley of Honor mostly in both the hunter and warrior trainer buildings. Once flying is enabled, you can also find some above the gate that leads to the Valley of Honor from The Drag. New additions of note: Guild Vendor Noted above, next to Grommash Hold. Archaeology Trainer Located inside Grommash Hold next to Garrosh and the blood elf delegation. City reputation vendors Noted above, on the flight "deck" next to the flight master. Justice/Valor Point Gear Vendors Second level of Grommash Hold. They are tricky to get to at first if you can't fly, but there's a ramp behind Grommash Hold that leads to a bridge that will let you walk there. Paladin Trainers There are two locations - a blood elf paladin trainer inside of Grommash Hold and a Tauren paladin trainer in the Valley of Wisdom. Druid Trainers There are two locations - a Tauren druid trainer in the Valley of Wisdom and a troll druid trainer in the Valley of Spirits (look for the kitty) Cooking Daily Located in The Drag outside of the cooking trainer's building (who resides in the same spot as before). The vendor for the daily tokens is next to the quest giver. Fishing Daily Located in the Valley of Honor next to the fishing trainer. Jewelcrafting Trainer Located in the Valley of Honor in the same building as the mining trainer (directly north of the warrior trainer/battlemaster building). Azshara Gate There's now a gate leading directly into Azshara (which is now a 12-20 quest zone) leading out of the north side of the Valley of Honor. Cataclysm Zone Portal Area Located on the rise directly north of the "flight area" is a small circle of stones. Once you begin questing in the new Cataclysm 80+ zones, portals will be unlocked that lead from this stone circle to those zones. Return portals aren't available in every zone, but Deepholm and Twilight Highlands both have portals that lead back to Orgrimmar.
  2. One change introduced in Cataclysm is the requirement that you find dungeon entrances before you can queue for them in the dungeon finder. This only applies to Cataclysm-specific dungeons, so don't panic and think your new goblins will need to trek out to Gnomer or anything! Below is a list of the release dungeons and a short description of where to go to find the entrances (descriptions courtesy of the many posters in the beta forums). I'm not including raid instance entrance locations at this time, but may fill those in later. Blackrock Cavern (Searing Gorge/Burning Steppes) Inside Blackrock Mountain, between Searing Gorge & The Burning Steppes. Follow the circular pathway to the lowest Eastern side entrance(next to the Meeting Stone), go inside and take first right. Throne of the Tides (Vashj'ir) On the Eastern edge of the Abyssal Shelf in Vashj'ir, follow the center of the Whirlpool down into a Chamber below which contains the instance entrance. The Stonecore (Deepholm) After going to Deepholm, follow the Temple of Earth up it's Western side. You'll find a meeting stone on a balcony, with the entrance to The Stonecore behind it. Halls of Origination (Uldum) To the lower right on the map there is a pyramid. The entrance is inside. Lost City of the Tol'vir (Uldum) Bottom Center on the map there is a village built in the delta of the river. The entrance is in the northern part of the village. Vortex Pinnacle (Uldum) Bottom right on the map. Fly there and look in the sky, you cant miss it. Additionally, one of the beta participants made a similar list with pictures to make the locations clearer, so if the above descriptions aren't good enough, feel free to visit their site (CLICKY).
  3. That's one confused...animal. On the plus side, at least he's not a druid or he would really be confused. Cat? Cheetah? Bear? Owlbirdthing? *head asplode*
  4. This one was rather unceremonious compared to previous betas, but the Cataclysm beta period is officially over now and the servers are offline for good. I was really hoping for another closing event, but I guess the realities of bringing Cataclysm to market were greater than even I anticipated. It's been a fun ride, as every beta has been, complete with wacky bugs, frustrating moments, and great memories. To the few that logged in during the beta, I'm glad to have had you around during the journey and to compare notes with. I also am happy to have brought news from the beta to those who weren't in there to see for themselves. Enough of the beta blabbing, though. To those that I won't get to see or chat with around Argent Dawn, take care and keep in touch! To the AD'ers, don't be a stranger
  5. Not much time with this build yet, so the post will develop as time goes on. So far, it looks like just most of the stuff that we saw in the live push and on PTR (class changes, etc.) to establish parity. This close to release, I wouldn't expect much to change unless it changes on live as well. Notable Bugs: So far, I haven't found any showstoppers. Yay! Notable unfixed bugs from the previous build: Usual proviso about deleting the cache directories in your installation directory if you're having issues loggiing in after the patch. See a previous build post if you need more info (or just post a reply and I'll elaborate). Some archaeology races' artifact fragments don't show up in the UI and can't be combined (they require a higher skill level than you have, but can still be gathered). Druid swift flight form's speed is still unaffected by the Mount Up guild perk speed boost. Druids aren't auto-shifting out of forms when casting mounts (annoying!) and get an error that we can't mount while in a form. Seems to only apply to moonkin (possibly only trolls, but I can't confirm). General: More new item graphics and icons. Guild: Nothing notable that I can see. Zones: Uldum:The daily quest "Fire From the Sky" is still funky with mob pathing, but the "Help the Bombardier! I'm the Bombardier!" achievement is now working. [*]Twilight Highlands: TBD [*]Tol Barad: I believe the Alliance:Horde ratio has been implemented finally. It's hard to tell since I keep entering so late and don't have enough time to see the full number of Alliance in the area. Classes: Mostly the same changes we see on live. A few tweaks to various spells of all classes for level 85 scaling. Professions: TBD User Interface: Same changes as live.
  6. Hard to tell what's new because of the first notable bug (which has basically made nearly all of my characters unusable). I'll see what I can do in the meantime... Notable Bugs: Logging in to or entering parts of Orgrimmar may cause the client to crash with an Assertion or texture cache error. There is no known workaround at this time. This seems to have been fixed. I'm free! General: Many items have new icons and some have new models as well, including many tier pieces. Premade character templates now come with epic raid gear for testing heroic raid content. Guild: Quite a few guild achievements have had their completion requirements reduced. Zones: Uldum:The daily quest "Fire From the Sky" is still a little wonky. The mobs' models don't path or update properly. [*]Twilight Highlands: TBD [*]Tol Barad: Teleporting to Tol Barad Peninsula from Orgrimmar now drops you off right in the Horde encampment rather than near the Alliance camp or in the middle of nowhere (relatively) on the island. Time between battles in the battleground area has been increased, possibly to its final value (appears to be the same downtime amount as Wintergrasp). Exploration of D-Block, Cursed Depths, and The Hole still don't register on the related achievement. Dead Fox Kit critters are no longer lootable (not that they had any loot before, but I had some ideas of what they might end up having). Oddly enough, they're still not showing up as critters, but rather foxes. [*]Orgrimmar: Gamon is now a level 85 elite and boasts 1.9 million health! Funniest change so far... Classes: Druid:Not seeing a new flight form model on my troll, but I'll poke around to see if it's just me (could be that I learned the old spell before the new one was introduced). Professions: Leatherworking:New patterns are available from the Hide and Leather Trader in Dragonmaw Port (finally!). [*]Cooking: The cooking dailies in Orgrimmar (and likely Stormwind too) are now cycling properly. User Interface: No notable stuff was introduced in this build - just some minor tweaks.
  7. Getting closer. This one wasn't all that big at all... Notable Bugs: Male trolls are a bit racially confused and seem to be acting (and sounding) like humans...imposters! They have several graphical issues as well (geoset attachment points are all kinds of messed up). Female trolls seem fine, however. General: Talents have been reset for some classes (again). Health-per-stamina values have been increased for levels 81+ (10.8, 11.6, 12.4, 13.2, and 14). Enjoy your even bigger health pool! Resilience has been slightly buffed as well, from what I can tell. Many items have new icons and some may have new models as well. Guild: Reportedly, guild reputation and experience gains have been returned to normal levels. I'll try to confirm this when I get some more data. Zones: Uldum:The quest "Colossal Guardians" should now be working. I guess someone found a really big shovel and dug the Colossus of the Moon out a bit. [*]Twilight Highlands: TBD [*]Deepholm: TBD [*]Tol Barad: Some of the walls of the capture points are invisible. It's actually quite silly to see. The commendation costs of some of the items from the reputation vendors have been increased again. [*]Vashj'ir: TBD Classes: Talents have been reset for some classes Lots of adjustments made to all classes, mostly involving decreases in output (or health in the case of bears). Quite a few abilities now increase in effectiveness as you level, such as Mangle and a few other things. The modifiers should slowly scale up with the character rather than being fixed (for those reading MMO-Champ, not everything is as reported/mined). Professions: Archaeology:Races' crests are now highlighting properly in the UI when moused over. [*]Jewelcrafting: New cuts/designs are in and available from Marith Lazuria in Orgrimmar near the trainer. Jewelcrafting daily is active now in Orgrimmar (outside of the hut near the trainer), which rewards you with tokens you can trade in for...you guessed it...the new designs (including the chimera's eye cuts). More tweaks to the gem icons. They look much more finished now. Some adjustments were made to the skill-up caps for some of the craftable items to allow things other than just Fire Prisms to grant skill above 500. Crafting some of the new Illustrious jewelry ocassionally produces a rare-quality item (blue) rather than an uncommon (green) one, with a higher item level and stats. [*]Tailoring: New patterns are available from the Cloth Trader in Dragonmaw Port (Twilight Highlands). Some nice stuff in there... User Interface: A few silly typos were corrected. Guild MOTD should now always print correctly. Sometimes it would fire before the chatframe was ready, so the message never got printed.
  8. Yes, I'm alive! Sorry, been a bit bed-bound due to illness/allergies lately... Notable Bugs: Haven't found anything notable and new yet. On logging in, your chest armour might be broken (or may not be). Some are seeing this happen, others are not, so check just to be safe. Seems to be common with druids, mages, and shaman at least. General: New login screen! And it's pretty damn cool! Those that caught the BlizzCon coverage have probably already seen it, but it's nicer when it's on your own monitor. Those that were worried about another screeching dragon don't have anything to fear - Deathwing is more the "I'll just stand here looking imposing while sometimes grunting" type. Character customisation and faction changing features are re-enabled. Let's hope some of the bugs from last time are fixed up. Female worgen are no longer gender confused and are now playable! Goblin mount issues have been fixed (as have goblins' problems negotiating certain terrain). Several racials have been adjusted: Blood Elves' Magic Resistance increases resistance to arcane rather than reduces chance to be hit by spells. Draenei Shadow Resistance increases resistance to shadow rather than reducing the chance to be hit by shadow spells. Worgen Aberration increases resistance to nature and shadow rather than reducing the duration of curses and diseases. Dwarves' Explorer has been adjusted to yield additional fragments rather than increasing base archaeology skill (reduced survey time still applies). Sounds like an odd change, but believe me, the previous incarnation had some serious problems. [*]Guards in the starting areas have been upgraded to level 90 elites and hit REALLY hard. This actually happened in the last build, but I hadn't had time to confirm it. [*]The flight masters that I have run across are now level 85 elites, so you can't just sneeze on them and watch them drop dead. This may be a global change, but I haven't had the opportunity to check every one for obvious reasons. Guild: The "Hasty Hearth" guild perk is finally working again (yay). Zones: Uldum: The quest "I'll Do It By Hand" is now working! The quest "Colossal Guardians" is still not working, however. [*]Twilight Highlands: TBD [*]Deepholm: TBD [*]Tol Barad: TBD [*]Vashj'ir: TBD Classes: Druid: Rebirth cooldown has been reduced to 10mins. Wacky. Soothe now has a short cast time (1.5sec base, I believe). Natural Shapeshifter now also increases ToL duration by 5/10secs, depending on point investment. The talent still blows for other specs, but at least resto gets something out of it finally. Several other changes to various talents and abilities (mostly small adjustments). [*]Paladin: Tons of changes to base damage/healing of various abilities in all three trees. Professions: Archaeology: Several (if not all) of the related achievements that didn't work before are now working. Digsites now only yield 6 fragments (2 per survey) for non-dwarves. I'm still trying to find a pattern to this, but sometimes you get 3 fragments per survey, so this isn't true. It may be tied to zone level or archaeology skill, but it'll take me awhile to figure it out. [*]Jewelcrafting: Still largely unfinished. Nothing new was added to the trainers. All new gems have new icons (finally), including cut gems. [*]Engineering: Lots of recipes have had their minimum skill level reduced, making engineering much more...able to be leveled. It's possible that engineering is pretty close to being finished (finally). Tinkers are now discovered in a way similar to alchemy discoveries. They're fairly easy to discover, from my experience so far, and pretty varied. [*]Leatherworking: The recipes that previously required 530 skill have been fixed to require 500 or less. Still not a lot to work with for leveling over 500, so it may not be finished, but at least it's workable now. Blackened Dragonscales have a new icon. [*]Mining: Pirium Bars now have a new icon (again). User Interface: GetProfessionInfo() now returns the skill modifier as the 8th return value (thank goodness). Funky UI error that occurs only with engineers (at least that I can tell), which causes the entire profession frame to break. This doesn't happen with current live client builds, so I'm wondering if this is a side-effect of my engineer being a very early copy and not transitioning properly.
  9. Yarrrr.... Notable Bugs: Getting reports that goblins are having issues using their ground mounts, but haven't confirmed this yet. The "Hasty Hearth" guild perk doesn't seem to work (didn't in the last build either). Notable unfixed bugs from the previous build: Usual proviso about deleting the cache directories in your installation directory if you're having issues loggiing in after the patch. See a previous build post if you need more info (or just post a reply and I'll elaborate). Female worgen are still gender-confused in the game itself. Some archaeology races' artifact fragments don't show up in the UI and can't be combined (they require a higher skill level than you have, but can still be gathered). On logging in, your chest armour might be broken (or may not be). Some are seeing this happen, others are not, so check just to be safe. Seems to be common with druids, mages, and shaman at least. Druid swift flight form's speed is still unaffected by the Mount Up guild perk speed boost. The daily quests available in the Tol Barad battleground area do not work for Horde currently (they are available, but require you to turn them in to the equivalent Alliance NPC). Druids aren't auto-shifting out of forms when casting mounts (annoying!) and get an error that we can't mount while in a form. Seems to only apply to moonkin (possibly only trolls, but I can't confirm). General: The bug that prevented spells like Lifebloom from being cast from a macro or via /cast has been fixed. Guild: The "Hasty Hearth" guild perk doesn't seem to work (didn't in the last build either). Guild titles are finally in (or really, in and fully localised), based on guild reputation: Neutral - "Initiate of" Friendly - "Recruit of" Honored - "Guardian of" Revered - "Veteran of" Exalted - "Champion of" Zones: Uldum: The quest "I'll Do It By Hand" is still not working. The quest "Colossal Guardians" is also still not working. [*]Twilight Highlands: The quest "The Last of Her Kind" has been fixed. [*]Deepholm: TBD [*]Tol Barad: Dailies in the battleground area now work for Horde...but still don't award reputation. Graveyards are now immunity-protected (finally). On a related note, Alliance have also rediscovered their /dance macros. [*]Vashj'ir: TBD Classes: Druid:As noted above, the bug that prevented spells like Lifebloom from being cast from a macro or via /cast has been fixed. [*]Paladin: TBD Professions: Archaeology:The number of fragments per digsite is now fixed at 9 (3 per survey). [*]Jewelcrafting: Still largely unfinished. I compared the crafting list from a premade to what was available on the trainer and the difference was amazing... [*]Engineering: Azeroth trainers finally shook off their amnesia and now know how to train Illustrious stuff. Truegold is back as a requirement for the goggles (sigh). It actually was a reporting error on my part last patch that it was removed...it wasn't. Sigh again. Still a lot of skill gaps, so it's likely not finished. [*]Leatherworking: Still a bunch of patterns that require 530 leatherworking, so it's also unfinished (like Engineering). User Interface: Trade skill modifiers *might* actually show up now. Let's hope the functions actually return the modifiers too or else the strings won't work...
  10. New build within a day...joyous. Hopefully fixing some of the bugs. Due to the rapid onset here, I'll just copy the 13189 post text here and amend it as needed. Apologies for the lateness - every so often, even I need sleep Notable Bugs: Druids aren't auto-shifting out of forms when casting mounts (annoying!) and get an error that we can't mount while in a form. Seems to only apply to moonkin (possibly only trolls, but I can't confirm). The loot rolling window appears when a keystone is looted (archaeology) even when not in a party. Hotfixed, yay! On logging in, your chest armour might be broken (or may not be). Some are seeing this happen, others are not, so check just to be safe. Seems to be common with druids, mages, and shaman at least. Druid swift flight form's speed is affected by Master Riding finally, but still unaffected by the Mount Up guild perk speed boost. The daily quests available in the Tol Barad battleground area do not work for Horde currently (they are available, but require you to turn them in to the equivalent Alliance NPC). General: Video and sound options are being saved between sessions again (thank goodness). The SetVertexColor() errors on the character selection gluescreen are fixed as well. Small patrols of flying guards have been added to all of the capital cities. I'm not sure how effective they'll be, but I'm sure we'll find out soon. The Rustberg Gull pet has a new seagull-ish icon and has been renamed to Rustberg Seagull (or at least the spell has - the pet's visible name is still Rustberg Gull). Guild: Another attempt to fix the News frame. This one just might have worked. A new chat message lets you know when you have earned the maximum amount of guild reputation that you can earn for the week. Side note: Guild titles seem to be a function of guild reputation. Revered is "Veteran of", exalted is "Champion of", and so forth. Zones: Uldum:The intro cutscene is a little funky. It works, but it's not quite showing what it should be (and used to). [*]Twilight Highlands: Quest rewards should be in, although not sure how completely itemised the zone is. The "Total War" daily quest now works. [*]Deepholm: Therazane finally has a new model - yet she's still pretty hideous. A new quest leading into the Stonecore instance is available from Therazane. The previously one-time quest "Beneath the Surface" is now a daily at the Therazane's Throne quest hub. The Collosal Gyreworm in the Crumbling Depths now picks you up and slowly consumes you if it manages to catch up with you. Best to avoid it if you can. [*]Tol Barad: A new victory quest has been added at HellScream's Grasp to win Tol Barad. Rewards 64 honor points. This appears to be a weekly quest. Daily quests in the Tol Barad battleground area are still not completable for Horde. The Spectral Wolf and Drake of the West Wind mounts now require more Tol Barad Commendations to purchase (150 and 175, respectively). The "Baradin Hold" instance appears to be open (supposed to be the new Vault of Archaevon). Daily quests from Hellscream's Grasp on Tol Barad Peninsula now (finally) reward reputation as well. Siege vehicles now have a lot more health (10 times more). [*]Vashj'ir: NPCs and mobs no longer fall through the floor in Nespirah. Classes: Druid: Wild Mushroom and Detonate got new icons (much nicer than the old one). New moonkin form models for trolls (and likely worgen). New Tree of Life models as well! Trolls now also have their own flight form model (could be the same as the Tauren model, but I haven't verified yet; worgen are likely to share the night elf model). Druid swift flight form's speed is affected by Master Riding finally, but still unaffected by the Mount Up guild perk speed boost. Several small spell cost adjustments. Base damage of Insect Swarm has been reduced (drastically, but it wasn't unexpected). [*]Paladin: TBD Professions: Archaeology: Completion count, dates, and times have been added to the tooltips of artifacts (wacky!). Map updating is now working properly! [*]Engineering: Still no love from Azeroth trainers for aspiring Illustrious Engineers. Outland trainers still seem to know how to train the new stuff, though. Material requirements to make some of the new goggles (at 500 skill) have been reduced to not require Truegold (thank goodness). Still a lot of skill gaps, so it's likely not finished. [*]Fishing: The gears icon is gone when mousing over the bobber. Instead, we have a little goofy fish! Fishing pools have been added to Tol Barad Peninsula, including a new type of wreckage pool that drops crates of food and lots of cloth. [*]Leatherworking: Same situation as last patch, although some new patterns have been added at 500. Still a bunch of patterns that require 530 leatherworking, so it's also unfinished (like Engineering). [*]Cooking: A couple of new achievements have been added for the new cooking dailies in Orgrimmar (and Stormwind). [*]Herbalism: Volatile Life has a new icon (and it's red?). [*]Mining: Volatiles obtained from mining all have new icons as well. User Interface: Reanchoring the WorldFrame no longer causes extremely weird things to happen with water if you have the new water effects enabled (FINALLY fixed it, yay!). The currency tab should work properly now instead of randomly disappearing.
  11. New build, new bugs...wheee! Notable Bugs: Video, sound, login, and other settings are not being saved to the Config.wtf file. The client is also not reading from existing Config.wtf files, so you have to redo the options every time. Really hope this gets hotfixed soon, since it's quite annoying. The first character on the selection list often returns a "SetVertexColor" error and the character may be unplayable at times. Again, hope this gets hotfixed (stupid gluescreen bugs). Other characters may show this as well from time to time. All kinds of character creation problems and sometimes certain ones may not show up at all on the list on the character selection screen. Item caching seems extremely slow, if it's working at all. Not sure if the client is even receiving the information or if it's a write problem. This appears to have been hotfixed. The Collosal Gyreworm in the Crumbling Depths now picks you up and slowly consumes you if it manages to catch up with you. Best to avoid it if you can (you can eject from it at least). [*]Tol Barad: A new victory quest has been added at HellScream's Grasp to win Tol Barad. Rewards 64 honor points. Daily quests in the Tol Barad battleground area are still not completable for Horde. The Spectral Wolf and Drake of the West Wind mounts now require more Tol Barad Commendations to purchase (150 and 175, respectively).
  12. Guild's up and running again, yay! Join the MisfitsAD channel if you want to see who's around for an invite back! Raztoka's the guild lead this time around and guild/bank permissions are already set up. Incidentally, guild rep and guild xp gains are insanely high now (for testing purposes), so enjoy the flood.
  13. We have four sigs, just need a fifth! Let me know if you can help out and I'll arrange to be around when you can, if I'm not already (I'm often on most of the daytime, so just log in and join the MisfitsAD chat channel if you're around).
  14. Here we go again. Guilds were wiped again tonight during a brief maintenance today (1 October) to fix a number of bugs related to the guild xp, leveling, rank, permissions, and rep systems. This means (yet again) that we have to get folks to log in to sign the guild charter. When you do, please join the MisfitsAD channel so we can see each other. Please log in to help, even if you rarely (if ever) log in. We only have 3-4 semi-active people and I need at least five signatures to get this done. This time, I'll likely have Raztoka be the guild master, since I'm on her more often than not anyway. Go figure, I had just copied over a bunch of gold and bought all of the bank tabs AGAIN. Oh well...
  15. Finally, we get a new build before PTR does. Notable Bugs: Female worgen are playable! Well, okay, maybe not. Technically, you can create one, but it uses the male model when you enter the game. The API functions even indicate that the character is, in fact, a female. Oddly enough, they still show the female model on the character selection screen too. Wacky stuff. Some (all?) players are not gaining guild reputation at all for completing quests. This seems to be affecting players of all levels. Notable unfixed bugs from the previous build: Usual proviso about deleting the cache directories in your installation directory if you're having issues loggiing in after the patch. See a previous build post if you need more info (or just post a reply and I'll elaborate). The vendors on Traveler's Tundra Mammoths seem to have gone on holiday. Some archaeology races' artifact fragments don't show up in the UI and can't be combined (they require a higher skill level than you have, but can still be gathered). Many riding training levels appear as unlearned in your spellbook. Master Riding appears for all characters as "learnable" in the spellbook regardless of level as well. The loot rolling window appears when a keystone is looted (archaeology) even when not in a party. On logging in, your chest armour might be broken (or may not be). Some are seeing this happen, others are not, so check just to be safe. Seems to be common with druids, mages, and shaman at least. Druid swift flight form's speed is still unaffected by Master Riding or the Mount Up guild perk speed boosts. Reanchoring the WorldFrame still causes extremely weird things to happen with water if you have the new water effects enabled (long-standing bug since alpha). The daily quests available in the Tol Barad battleground area do not work for Horde currently (they are available, but require you to turn them in to the equivalent Alliance NPC). General: In-game voice support has been readded to the sound options. Macro issues have been resolved. Brazie's Sunflower (a.k.a. Singing Sunflower) companion pet has a new model...and talks/sings periodically. Retroactive reputation seems to have been awarded to players who completed Mt. Hyjal and Vashj'ir prior to the implementation of the respective reputations in each zone (Guardians of Hyjal and The Earthen Ring). Quest achievement completion for Mt. Hyjal has also been granted for the same group (but not Vashj'ir). Guild: Guild news page and filters are still messed up and throw lots of Lua errors. Zones: Orgrimmar:Portals leading to Vashj'ir, Uldum, Deepholm, and Twilight Highlands are now functional instead of just looking pretty. [*]Uldum: "Camel Tow" (quest) is working! Doesn't seem to be any follow-up, though. From what I can tell, the hyena quest was removed? I didn't have it in my log before, so I could use some confirmation from anyone who had kept it in there. The zone *should* be fully itemised now (meaning quest rewards are in and the mobs should be dropping money/cloth/items now). [*]Twilight Highlands: TBD [*]Deepholm: "Lingering Twilight" (Therazane daily) seems to have been removed, which doesn't bother me since it never worked. It might still be in, but I'll have to check tomorrow's daily cycle to be sure. Therazane had her PH tag removed, but she still has the same model *shrugs* [*]Tol Barad: Exploration achievement for the zone is no longer marked as NYI...but still doesn't register discoveries of the areas. The daily quests available in the Tol Barad battleground area do not work for Horde currently (they are available, but require you to turn them in to the equivalent Alliance NPC). [*]Vashj'ir: "Nespirah" (quest) is currently not working and hasn't for two builds now, gating players trying to progress in the zone (NPCs are out of phase). Classes: Druid: Small changes to several feral, balance, and restoration skills/talents (almost all are reductions in proc rates or effectiveness), including Savage Defense, Efflorescence, and Fungal Growth. Lifebloom now has two spellIDs (one for the ToL version, one for the non-ToL version). Unfortunately, the client seems to be picking the wrong one unless cast from the spellbook or action bars, so a macro with /cast Lifebloom or using a healing addon won't work with Lifebloom unless you can force it to cast by spellID. [*]Paladin: The "Exorcism Damage Yo-Yo" continues, this time with exorcism's base damage increasing again. Two-Handed Specialization (retribution) got a damage bonus boost. Professions: Archaeology: The light on the survey equipment now flashes at different rates for each colour (this was done to help those with colour blindness determine distances indicated more easily). Red flashes very slow, yellow a bit faster, and green flashes rapidly. A new achievement has been added to recover fragments of each "race". It's not working yet, though. [*]Leatherworking: Still significantly buggy, with many patterns on the the trainer requiring 530 skill to learn (525 is max for Cataclysm). [*]Cooking: Several more recipes have been added for skill levels above 450. User Interface: Issues with macros not working or not being able to be dragged onto action bars have been resolved. POI markers on the world map have been updated (FINALLY) for Cataclysm. Glyph spell tooltips should refresh properly now after scrolling. Fixed the reverse logic in the consolidated buffs code (again, tired developers are tired!). The Game Menu icon in the micro bar switches icons to indicate download/caching status. The spell critical chance provided by Intellect in the Character Sheet's tooltip is now correctly displayed. Tol Barad Commendations aren't listed on the currency frame (bug). If you have some and you want to see how many, use this command: /run print(format("%s: %d", GetCurrencyInfo(391)))
  16. New bui...ah, you know the drill... Notable Bugs: Character-specific macros don't seem to work, but general ones do. You can copy the specific ones into the general tab and they should work (investigating a better workaround). The vendors on Traveler's Tundra Mammoths seem to have gone on holiday. Not sure if this happens in all zones yet or just Orgrimmar/Durotar. The daily quests available in the Tol Barad battleground area do not work for Horde currently (they are available, but require you to turn them in to the equivalent Alliance NPC). Archaeology digsites on zone maps are still not updated properly at times. It's better than it was, but still buggy. General: The portals in Dalaran and Shattrath to the major cities are GONE and have been replaced by a bunch of socialising class trainers. Don't be so quick to hearth back there unless you intend on staying there a bit. Not sure if this is intended or a bug. Not a bug, it's intended. Glyph vendors have been removed from Dalaran as well. New Justice and Honor point vendors are working. You can find them on the upper tier of Grommash Hold in the Valley of Strength (Garrosh's pad) in a little nook facing the flight master rise. Guild: Guild reputation gains have been greatly increased (just got +102 rep for turning in a quest in Uldum) News page bugs still exist, but it's slowly improving. Some small usability fixes to the guild control frames. Zones: Uldum:"Unlimited Potential" (quest) has been implemented. Several others are still not working. [*]Twilight Highlands: Quests and mobs in this zone are still not itemised, so no items are rewarded from quests yet. [*]Deepholm: "Glop, Son of Glop" (daily) is bugged again (check again after a restart to be sure). This appears to have been hotfixed. "Lingering Twilight" (daily) is still bugged and cannot be completed. [*]Tol Barad: The items from the Hellscream's Reach quartermaster in Tol Barad now correctly require Hellscream's Reach reputation (instead of Baradin's Wardens). The daily quests available in the battleground area do not work for Horde currently (bug - they are available, but require you to turn them in to the equivalent Alliance NPC). Classes: Druid: Eclipse bar now has a direction arrow to indicate which type of energy your last spell generated (to help with the smart spells like Starsurge) Nature's Torment (Balance talent) renamed back to Nature's Grace and tweaked a tad. Polymorph immunity is gone from the moonkin form tooltip, but that may just be a tooltip problem (need to test this with a mage). Moonkin's tooltip is pretty lengthy, so it may have been left off to keep it from filling the screen. The aura still shows polymorph immunity, though, so it's likely just a shapeshift spell tooltip thing. Sunfire (Balance talent) seems to work now and no longer bugs Moonfire at all (even without the talent, it would bug and become uncastable in the last build). [*]Mage: Fireball and FFB damage has been increased (and it makes sense to glyph FFB now for nicer damage) Tol Barad teleport/portal spells are on portal trainers for level 85 mages. Arcane Intellect and Dalaran Intellect are now identical in effect and do not stack. Professions: Archaeology: Kaldorei Wind Chimes (rare artifact) now has a "use" spell attached. Many of the others are still NYI. You now loot the same amount of artifact fragments that is shown in the loot window. The zone maps appear to be updating and showing the digsites properly now. I spoke too soon. Doh! Druids can no longer survey in flight forms. You can now survey while swimming (makes Vashj'ir much easier to deal with). [*]Fishing: All ranks are finally retained on zoning/relogging. Fishing pools have been added to the new 80+ zones (yay!). [*]Jewelcrafting: Obsidium and Elementium ores are now able to be prospected (still need to check pyrite when I get more and have the skill to prospect it). BUNCH of new green-quality cuts and some random-enchant jewelry available on the trainers. [*]Engineering: Trainers are still morons and won't teach the Illustrious rank or new patterns. The trainer in Area 52 does teach the Illustrious rank and new patterns. Progressions beyond 500 is difficult, though, because of some required materials that I have yet to find. User Interface: The /run and /script commands have been re-enabled (finally tagged the client properly). Some functionality added for the "in testing now" mobile chat/friend features The Maelstrom Continent has been renumbered *shakes a fist* (don't ask) /castglyph added to the slash commands (yay) Fixed a few "oops, got those conditions backwards" problems in profession windows (notably archaeology) Character-specific macros don't seem to work, but general ones do. You can copy the specific ones into the general tab and they should work (investigating a better workaround).
  17. New build is up! Usual plea for patience as I update the post (for the uninformed, I actually do run around for several hours discovering/verifying what I post). Notable Bugs: On logging in, your chest armour might be broken (or may not be). Some are seeing this happen, others are not, so check just to be safe. Seems to be common with druids, mages, and shaman at least. Some archaeology races' artifact fragments don't show up in the UI and can't be combined (they require a higher skill level than you have, but can still be gathered). New ore types are still not able to be prospected for gems by jewelcrafters. Many riding training levels appear as unlearned in your spellbook. Master Riding appears for all characters as "learnable" in the spellbook regardless of level as well. You may loot different amounts of artifact fragments than is indicated in the loot window while surveying. Many times, you'll get less, rarely you will get more. The loot rolling window appears when a keystone is looted (archaeology) even when not in a party. Sunfire (druid balance talent) is supposed to morph your Moonfire spell into a Sunfire spell, but instead changes it to Spiritual Focus (which cannot be cast). Avoid the talent until this is fixed. Unsure if this is a bug, but lunar/solar energy isn't decaying at all and the lunar/solar eclipse buffs have no timer. Notable unfixed bugs from the previous build: Usual proviso about deleting the cache directories in your installation directory if you're having issues loggiing in after the patch. See a previous build post if you need more info (or just post a reply and I'll elaborate). The /run and /script commands are still disabled (likely an oversight). Fishing gets "unlearned" after zoning or relogging still. The only rank that seems to "stick" is Illustrious Grand Master. If you do lose your fishing "spell", just relearn Artisan and it should work fine after that (even if you're above that skill-wise - you don't lose your existing ranks or skill level and it continues to accrue skill points normally). Trying to fish sometimes crashes the client on the very first cast. You can either relog quickly to fish or just wait about a minute after equipping your fishing pole and standing by the water before casting. This only affects the first cast; it works fine after that. Many professions are still disappearing on zoning/relogging. Archaeology digsites on zone maps are still not updated properly at times. It's better than it was, but still buggy. General: The launcher is now showing patch notes properly, although people will still not read them Buff patch notes! Azerothian Navigation has been renamed to "Flight Master's License". Level 85 premade templates are available for copying. They've actually been available for a week or so, but had quite a few problems (arrived with no gear at one point, partial sets later, etc.). Hopefullly, the issues have been worked out, but unless you don't care about your copy count for premades, I'd wait to hear whether or not the kinks have been worked out before copying one. Failed to note this before, but the currency systems is being overhauled (emblems, honour, Venture Coins, stuff like that...gold is more classified as "money", so that's unchanged). Some characters may see no change still while others will. YMMV. The race change indicator on the character selection screen has a new icon. Guild: More guild achievements have been added. Guild Feats of Strength has been added as a category. Guild News filters are working properly again. Several new guild rewards have been added, including the scorpion mount (which is an heirloom) and a couple of companion pets. Costs of the heirlooms have been significantly reduced (as have the prices of several other items). Races: General:Some existing racials have been changed. Expect more in the coming build or two. [*]Horde: Tauren:Cultivation also allows you to gather herbs faster than normal herbalists. [*]Forsaken: Cannibalize now restores 7% of total health and mana every 2secs for 10secs (it's about time!). [*]Alliance: Worgen: Worgen "mounts" are in, except they don't get a mount. Instead, they get a new ability: "Running Wild", which is mechanically identical to a mount (mount-like cast time, can't be used in combat, etc.), but which drops the worgen down on all fours to run at mount speeds. Neato! Still not enough to convince me to play one of those fleabags... Female worgen models are in. While I would've loved to have a race of pink cubes, it's probably better this way. Hope you liked seeing worgen males before, since you probably won't see any now Character customisation buttons have been added to the creation screen to allow individually altering both the worgen and human appearances independently. [*]Humans: Perception has been removed. [*]Dwarves: Treasure Finding has been removed. New racial added: Explorer - Increases Archaeology skill by 15 and allows them to survey faster than normal archaeologists. [*]Gnomes: New racial added: Shortblade Specialization - Expertise with daggers and one-handed swords increased by 3. Zones: Uldum:Some quests now have item rewards, others do not. Some item rewards are duplicated as well. May want to hold out a bit longer if you were looking to quest in Uldum and wanted the items. [*]Twilight Highlands: Still seems to have no item rewards. I'll update this if I see any changes. [*]Deepholm: Several new quests and dailies have been added to the Therazane throne area. A Therazane tabard is also available on the quartermaster. Classes: Druid: Swift Flight Form now benefits from the Master Riding speed boost (310% birdie)! The tooltip says it does, but it's still 280%. Sadface... Quite a few balance talents have disappeared and others added. Overall, some neat stuff and finally something to react to instead of rotational boredom. Still needs work, IMO, but it's a step in the right direction. The Wild Mushroom and Detonate spells need to be relearned and have been redone a tad. Nom Nom No...er...Feast of Flesh has been renamed to Blood in the Water. Wonder if we'll see yet another rename (WTB Noms back). Quite a few changes to feral. Too many to really list here. Starsurge no longer includes a knockdown component (awww). Professions: Archaeology: A new "intro" explanatory frame has been added to the archaeology crafting window when you first learn the profession. Racial crests are now updated and distinct. Keystones now count as 12 fragments instead of 6. Increased number of fragments obtained per digsite. Several of the epic and rare items have been changed. [*]Cooking: A new "Sous Chef" NPC has been added in Orgrimmar/Stormwind (at least) that offers new recipes in exchange for Chef's Awards. The cooking daily NPC rewards you with Chef's Awards instead of the placeholder tokens now. [*]Mining: Smelt Obsidium is now on the mining trainer (instead of Cut, which was a smithing skill). [*]Enchanting: The enchanting trainer teaches enchanting stuff again instead of engineering. User Interface: A new option has been added to the Interface options->Display frame to display the damage/healing range numbers on spell tooltips as an average or minimum/maximum values. Another new option has been added to the same frame to emphasise your spell effects (to make them more visible than those of other players). Haven't tried this one yet, but looks interesting. A slider to change the opacity of spell activation alerts (the Power Auras thing) has been added to the Interface options->Combat frame. An option to display party frames in the same style as the new raid frames is available. This is a godsend, especially for healers that want to dump Grid (the new raid frames and interface elements are f-ing awesome). Some silly typos were corrected in the API (GetArchaelogyInfo(), for instance). Tired programmers are less tired now? The streaming content indicator has been moved and updated slightly. It's now a bit more descriptive (visually and via tooltip) as to what it's doing. The Game Menu icon has been updated, and the tooltip now indicates currrent streaming download progress.
  18. Servers are up, blah blah blah. Good news, though - goblin mounts! Wheee! Still updating the post, so patience... Notable Bugs: Female worgen are selectable for creation, but are shown as a pink box on the character selection screen. Attempting to create one results in a Failure error. Some archaeology races' artifact fragments don't show up in the UI and can't be combined. The enchanting trainer in Dalaran teaches engineering skills. The flying trainer in Dalaran seems to have disappeared. Still looking for her new location. The goblin quest "Life Savings" (last quest on Kezan) is currently bugged and cannot be completed. Trade Prince Gallywix just vanishes, apparently taking the money and running! Why didn't I think of that??? Notable unfixed bugs from the previous build: Fishing gets "unlearned" after zoning or relogging still. Swift Flight Form does not benefit from Master Riding's speed boost. The /run and /script commands are still disabled (likely an oversight). Many professions are still disappearing on zoning/relogging. General: New official forum section added for discussing professions. Goblin mounts (epic and non) are in and riding training has finally been fixed for goblins. There is a vendor for them and a riding trainer in the Goblin Slums area of Orgrimmar. Currently, they only seem to come in one colour, but I'm hoping we'll see more added over time. Azerothian Navigation is now available on the flying trainers and allows you to ride flying mounts in Azeroth. The cost is cheap (250g before rep discount, I believe), so it's not a gold sink like Cold Weather Flying was (yet...). Some characters may appear to have a customisation option button on the character selection screen. This is normal for the character customisation feature (race change as well), but no idea why it was enabled here (perhaps because new options are available for those races). Many new achievements were added. PvP titles are back and tied to rated battleground achievements. Unlike the previous system, they do not decay, so once earned, you keep them. Barber shops seem to be fixed for all races that couldn't use them before. Level 85 premades are enabled for copying (including the new race/class combos). Not sure if they come with gear yet, though. Many items (including trinkets) have received new stats, use effects, graphics, and icons. Zones: Uldum: Got a world map! Note that the quests likely still have no quest reward items yet. This is standard for newly-opened testing areas and may not receive an itemisation pass for another build or two. [*]Twilight Highlands: Note that the quests likely still have no quest reward items yet. This is standard for newly-opened testing areas and may not receive an itemisation pass for another build or two. [*]Deepholm: A Therazane quartermaster was added to Therazane's Throne. He's an elemental that sits near the portal leading back to the Temple of Earth and sells enchants (similar to the Sons of Hodir) and some nice rare-quality rings (most are level 85 required). A couple of new dailies were added to the Therazane daily quest givers, but neither is working properly. Classes: Prime glyphs were added for the classes that didn't have them yet. Removing or replacing a glyph now requires an item called Dust of Disappearance, which is sold by the Inscription Supplies vendors for 10g (before rep discounts). There are still a few odd corner-case bugs with removing glyphs, so don't blow a bunch of gold if you run into this. Druid:Nature's Grace (Balance) is now a flat haste increase (1% per point investment, max of 3%). [*]Paladin: Divine Purpose (Retribution) talent is still showing a bug in the tooltip. Not sure if the talent itself is bugged as well. Retribution's mastery has changed to Hand of Light, which increases the chance that the next Holy Power ability consumes no Holy Power and is cast as if 3 Holy Power were consumed. Professions: Many professions still remain buggy or with the new stuff still NYI. Archaeology: ...is available (for real this time)! Trainers are located next to Garrosh (Horde), in the Magic Quarter in Undercity, and the Stormwind Library (Alliance). There may be more, but those are the ones I've located so far. Check the zones on your world map for red-shaded areas that indicate dig sites to poke around at. "Casting" the Survey ability will create a telescope pointing in the direction of the closest artifact fragment. A little light next to the telescope indicates how close you are to the artifact (yellow is closer, green is very close, red means it can't find anything nearby and the direction indicated is random). [*]First Aid: Previous bugs involving missing bandage recipes have been fixed. [*]Mining: Illustrious rank is available for training. The Cut Obsidian smelting ability is bugged, however, and doesn't "stick" after zoning/relogging. Don't bother training it unless you want to use it at that moment. [*]Jewelcrafting: Illustrious rank is available for training, but very few other designs are available yet. User Interface: More work was done on the Video options panel. UI scale also works again. A new category "tab" was added to the Spellbook that contains guild perk spells. A new slash command was added: "/wargame" or "/wg". I'm not exactly sure what this does and I can't seem to get it to do anything yet, but I've seen some supporting code for it trickle in. Eeeenteresting! Guild: The Rewards tab in the guild UI is enabled. This lists the various guild rep/achievement awards that are purchasable by guild members (along with pricing). The items are still purchased at the guild vendor, but it's nice to see the full list and requirements for each item. A new view option was added to the Roster dropdown that shows members' Achievement Points in the roster list. Guild experience progress tooltip has been cleaned up significantly. It also describes what activities will contribute towards guild levels and (finally) shows a percentage of completion. Edit 1: Updated archaeology and Survey info (including the light colours). Added a few more bugs too. Edit 2: Updated info on Mining, Jewelcrafting, Fishing, "/wargame", and added a few notable quest bugs
  19. The use of addons was enabled again in build 12857. Of course there are some bugs in Blizzard's UI code, but some existing addons do work. That being said, many addons will not work at all or will act very funny due to the Cataclysm changes. If you have addons that you can't live without or would really prefer to have, check WoWInterface's Cataclysm Beta download section first to see if an update is posted already. Many authors are in the beta and have already begun updating things. Some authors might not have time to play on the beta servers or have a beta key (they should, but if they never asked...). In those cases, feel free to post what you need fixed in this thread. As long as the code isn't too funky, I just might be able to get some of the functionality to work again. I make no promises, of course, and respect the distribution rights of any other authors in question, so I won't be uploading fixed versions to the major sites. At the very least, though, I can help you get your copy fixed. Some of the "heavier" addons may take some work and time. Hefty addons like Pitbull are daunting to fix up, so I may end up declining if I can't make any headway or if it will take too much time (most of those addons have multi-author teams). In short, it's worth a try, but don't get your hopes up
  20. Servers are up! Go forth and test (and for those of us who sit in Org and answer the same questions repeatedly, let loose the masses who never read or explore on their own)! Note that the servers are being restarted frequently at times, so be patient. Notable Bugs: Addons are enabled, but /run and /script are still disabled (likely an oversight). Some worgen customisation options are a little...messed up and seem to do funky things with the human form. When you first log in, you may be unable to move. If the problem persists more than a minute, force-close WoW and log back in after a minute or so. This should clear it up. Flight masters' green exclamation points (indicating an undiscovered flight point) remain on the minimap even after the flight master is "discovered". The sound indicating that you have accepted a quest is triggered when talking to any quest giver in error. The quests are definitely not auto-accepted. Quest reward items sometimes lack names when you first talk to a quest giver. Looks to be a caching problem. Talking to the quest giver again or checking the accepted quest in your log should show the quest rewards properly. A lot of the glyphs are being reworked, so many have no "Use" description text. This can cause problems with the glyph UI, since it now provides search and list features. If you have Show Lua Errors enabled, prepare for the flood. Some classes are less affected than others. If you only see one glyph in the list (or none), pull down the dropdown menu and deselect "Unavailable". Notable unfixed bugs from the previous build: Crashing on login or startup has returned again. If you're having this problem, delete the Cache folder inside of your Data folder. It should work fine after that. Insert usual "goblin mount" line of text here. Barber shops still aren't working for many races. Fishing gets "unlearned" after zoning or relogging still. Swift Flight Form does not benefit from Master Riding's speed boost. The quest "...It Will Come" in Vashj'ir is not working again (gating quest). This was hotfixed. Guild level-ups are still very spotty (yay gigantor blue bar of doooom). General: Level cap has been raised to 85. Addons are enabled (again...finally). Speaking as an author, PLEASE be patient if your favourite addons don't work yet. While we're not seeing any gigantic changes to the API, there are still some changes/additions that will require changes to existing addons. New launcher graphics/design is in. It's pretty sharp too! All non-heroic dungeons are available for testing. Discovering pre-Cataclysm dungeon entrances is no longer a requirement for using the LFD system for those instances. Cataclysm dungeons will retain the requirement, however. Worgen intro cinematic is in place, complete with the voiceover! Goblins are re-enabled, but still a bit funky. New BoA items were removed from the guild vendor. If you had them equipped or in your inventory, though, they remain. Several of the guild vendor placeholder tokens were removed entirely (even from inventories). A new scorpid mount placeholder token was introduced in place of the thunderlizard mount token. Many of the plate armour graphics are finally in. Zones: Many zones have had their "discovery" info wiped. You may need to rediscover the subzones to clear the fog of war (and get xp, wheee!). Uldum: ...is now open for testing for level 83-84 characters (breadcrumbs from Deepholm). Note that the quests likely have no quest reward items yet. This is standard for newly-opened testing areas and may not receive an itemisation pass for another build or two. [*]Twilight Highlands: ...is now open for testing for level 84-85 characters (breadcrumbs in Orgrimmar/Stormwind, from Garrosh/Varian respectively) Note that this zone is still not fully implemented, so you may encounter dead-end questlines. Note that the quests likely have no quest reward items yet. This is standard for newly-opened testing areas and may not receive an itemisation pass for another build or two. [*]Thousand Needles: ...is FINALLY open for testing for level 40-45 characters (breadcrumbs from Dustwallow Marsh and Feralas). Note that the quests likely have no quest reward items yet. This is standard for newly-opened testing areas and may not receive an itemisation pass for another build or two. [*]Felwood: ...is open for testing for level 45-50 characters (breadcrumbs unknown, but first quests begin at the Emerald Circle hub in southern Felwood). Note that the quests likely have no quest reward items yet. This is standard for newly-opened testing areas and may not receive an itemisation pass for another build or two. [*]Deepholm: The zone map is in place now, although the fog of war is still not enabled. Classes: Talents have been reset for all classes. Total rework of the glyph UI along with the addition of a new type of glyphs: Prime Glyphs (none available in Dalaran yet). Many are available on the Dalaran glyph vendors. Many glyphs are being reworked and may be buggy. Druid: New graphics for the Eclipse bar (balance). The glow indicates which direction "smart" spells will provide power gains to. It's still a bit buggy, but it's not bad. Some small tweaks to existing talents and their point costs. [*]Paladin: The Crusader Aura turbo bug was fixed (awww). Professions: Archaeology is available! Trainers to begin the requisite quests are located next to Garrosh (Horde) and the Stormwind Library (Alliance). Not sure about this yet...the quest involved may be a breadcrumb into Uldum (still investigating). Many professions still remain buggy or with the new stuff still NYI. First Aid: Illustrious rank is available for training, along with the new bandages (new last build, but I didn't note it). People who had the "artisan" bug before can now access their crafting window again, but some previously-learned bandages are missing from the craftable list. [*]Cooking: Illustrious rank is available for training, along with the new cooking recipes (new last build, but I didn't note it). Might only be in Dalaran - haven't checked the other trainers. [*]Fishing: Illustrious rank is available for training. User Interface: Use of addons has been re-enabled. See my plea in the General sections regarding addon updates. Floating combat text is working again. Lots of work being done on the glyph UI. It now has Prime Glyph slots, as well as allowing the list of glyphs to be collapsed (and are broken up into prime/major/minor categories). It's quite nice! You can even see the glyphs you don't have. Some small tweaks to the tradeskill UI to work a bit better with the guild professions list. Spell "activation glow" overlay effects have been introduced into the UI code (along with the requisite events). This looks like it will make your abilities "glow" on the action when they're available (probably the ones that proc off of some condition, e.g. Overpower). Spell activation overlay implementation (aka "Power Auras"-like functionality) appears much more complete. Not sure how many spells they've hooked into the event trigger yet, though, so you may not see them on some classes at this time. Supporting position variables seem to be in the code, so it's likely that we'll see some basic configuration that way (for placement and orientation). Flyouts added to the restricted environment (knew when this would happen eventually). GetProfessions() and GetProfessionInfo() were added to the API (some time ago, but we get to play with them now)...and are much easier to work with now than the GetSkillLine system. Now if I could only figure out how to detect riding level.... Guild: Addition of guild-related achievements to the achievement alerts (the ones that pop up when you get an achievement). Increase in the constant that defines the maximum number of guild bank tabs (from 6 to 8!). Guild events now show up properly on the Guild UI. Guild "level up" alerts added to the new "level up" overlays and chat output feature. Guild experience contributions (both weekly and daily) are now viewable on the roster via the dropdown. PvP ratings (BG and Arena) are now viewable on the roster via the dropdown as well. Many new guild achievements are in (new tab on the achievement frame). Guild boss kill events had a dressing room frame attached in the code. I would assume this is to show the boss's picture in a side-window (nifty!).
  21. *watches with amusement as an intentionally vague statement is interpreted in a myriad of different ways* Frankly, we don't know what it means and can't find out until the servers are up again or a clarification is posted. If you want to be safe and are already farming for the mounts, keep doing so. If you're not currently farming but want the mounts, best to start doing so since it's unknown what their fates will be for now. The same could be said for Zandalar rep, the raptor hatchling, or even the polymorph book. A lot is changing in Cataclysm, so if you have goals that involve Azeroth zones/quests/instances/raids, best to start working on them now. I've already noticed several companion pets that (unless they're moved) will no longer be available, and there are a few other things that obviously won't be around any longer either. If you're really after some of these harder-to-get things, don't wait much longer to get them done.
  22. Fun side note: there's a new companion pet available that looks kinda like the Teldrassil Sapling named "Withers". Alliance can obtain him as a reward from a quest in Darkshore, but I found out that he's available to buy by Horde as well! The NPC vendor is in a little cave just SW of where "Ruins of Mathystra" is printed on the map (looks like it's at the end of the river there). The cave itself is behind a waterfall, so it might be hard to see at first. When you enter, bear left and down the ramp, then continue going left. You'll see the little vendor guy next to a little chemistry lab table. Withers is BoP, but not limited supply. So far, I haven't gotten him to emote anything, but he does shrink over time. Dunk him in some water and he spruces right up, though (pun intended). You can also resummon him to get him back to full-size, but that's not as fun. Small update: A couple of us did some testing with Withers today. He seems to be initially summoned with "full water", then slowly dries out (and shrinks). When he gets to a certain size, he'll suck the water right out of any other Withers in the area (if they're at "full water" still), grow again, and emote that he absorbs the water. I haven't tried to use emotes on him yet to see what he reacts to, but it's on the list. He doesn't dance, that much I know Update 2: Dunking him in water does nothing after all. Guess that was just a quirky false-positive of some other condition that I haven't figured out yet. Gonna test emotes while I'm out fishing a bit today and see what goes.
  23. New build day...wheee! As usual, some bugs fixed and some new ones appear! Notable Bugs: Some get a client crash on initial login after downloading this build. If so, delete (or rename) the Cache folder inside of the Data folder in your beta install directory to clear this up and allow you to get into the game. Hilarious bug with paladins and mount speed going on, allowing paladin mounts to go extremely fast. From what I can tell, this may just happen to those who have the Long Arm of the Law talent, but I haven't done too much checking. It's really funny, though. It's Crusader Aura Worgen creation results in a "Failure" error with some (most?) of the new skin colour settings. If this happens to you, try a different skin colour setting. Some goblin-related issues going on that are causing client crashes (and possibly server issues). Blizzard has disabled goblins completely for now until it's fixed. Note that they won't even show up on your character list (doesn't necessarily mean they're gone, just disabled). There is a HUGE bug going to the Maelstrom for the first time right now. Apparently, when you zone in, you do so underneath the terrain and die. Trying to resurrect will just lead to repeated deaths. There is a trick that sometimes works to escape from the cycle, but it's not worth it for now. Just avoid trying to head to Deepholm/Maelstrom for now. Notable unfixed bugs from the previous build: Journeyman riding is still unavailable on the trainers for certain races (notably goblins, but a few others have seen it as well). This appears to only happen to Horde characters so far, but not sure. Fishing may need to be retrained again...again again. You won't lose any skill you have, but it's still acting funky. If you need to fish, re-purchase the skill, but otherwise it's probably safe to wait (I'm often the only one nuts enough to want to fish a lot anyway). Some characters are STILL unable to open certain crafting skills (for me, it's Artisan First Aid). Guild permissions are still very wonky. As before, I will try to fix the bank perms, but can't make any guarantees until the UI cooperates. Goblins, mounts...do I even need to say it again? The felsteed bug is back (possibly intentional this time). Pick up blacksmithing in Org or Dalaran, then talk to the weaponsmith nearby to learn the felsteed mount. Some characters may have to respec to get their talents enabled again or see the proper amount of talent points. Consider this standard practice for new builds that introduce new talents or shuffle existing talents around. Slotting glyphs doesn't work properly. Trying to overwrite or apply new major glyphs results in the top slot getting overwritten. Slotting minors doesn't work at all (bug carried over from last build). Barber shops are still not working General: The feedback UI is working again! Time for me to submit the zillion tiny bug reports I've been storing up. Abandoning quests works again as well (a bug in the Feedback UI code was causing this before). Worgen creation now shows human form as well, but does not allow additional customisation to the human form. A few skin colours were added, from what I can tell, but that's the extent of customisation that I've found. Worgen have ears again! First it was faces disappearing, then ears. Wonder what will vanish next! The Moonglade quest teleport bug (for the Mt. Hyjal intro quest) that was causing characters to get stuck appears to be fixed. Zones: Many zones have gotten further updates to their world maps. More dungeon maps were added/tweaked. The fog of war seems to be enabled on a few other zone maps now and never clears up on some of them, even when the areas are discovered. Orgrimmar: The mailbox fairy has arrived and dropped a crapload of new mailboxes around. Enjoy! A little more work has been done on the new barber shop location (no more fruit baskets), but the chairs and such aren't rendering properly due to terrain overlap. [*]Deepholm: Forgot to mention this last build, but some of the Therazane PH dailies are no longer PH and work as intended now. [*]Thousand Needles: Some of the Twilight areas and Highperch now have mobs (and possibly quests). The zone still doesn't appear ready for testing, however. The River Boat works again! Wheee! [*]Bilgewater Harbor: All doodad and terrain texture bugs have been fixed (finally), so no more gaping holes to fall through or get dismounted by. [*]Twilight Highlands: Two of the invisible walls were removed, so the zone is open for scenic tours, but not for questing. Beware, however. There are a TON of graphical problems in this zone still. You most likely will crash many, many times during your tour if you go there. Worst case, lower your graphics settings all the way and escape ASAP. Also, the mobs in the zone are level 85 for the most part (and some do throw boulders at you while you're flying), so be careful. Classes: Shaman:Elemental has a few new talents and at least one removed. The new additions allow for additional lightning shield charges to accumulate and allow the shaman to "unleash" the damage of all of the orbs' damage against an enemy. I didn't pick this talent up yet, but will play with it. Could add some use to shields for elemental, although there are likely better spots to spend the talent points. [*]Paladin: See the Notable Bugs section for a funny one regarding paladin mount speeds. Not sure what else is new, but I'm still poking around. I know there were some changes to how holy power can be gained, but I need to sift through the info. [*]Druid: Balance specialisation adds a new specialisation passive spell - Moonfury, which increases arcane and nature spell damage by 25% and increases crit damage by 100% (thank god this isn't a talent investment any longer). Moonkin form now buffs the druid's arcane and nature spell damage by 10% in addition to the other benefits. Furor FINALLY got moved out of restoration and into the feral tree (after how many years?). Heart of the Wild was moved over to restoration where Furor was (makes sense). Thorns is now a very short-duration buff and has a cooldown. Damage was increased significantly, though. Not sure when this happened, but Soothe Animal was redesigned. It's now named Soothe and it acts like Tranq Shot, dispelling all enrage effects. It's also not restricted to beasts any longer. Fungal Growth is finally not tagged NYI, but doesn't seem to work yet. Could be that there's just no graphics in place yet, but I haven't had the chance to test if the snare effect is working. Professions: Many primary and secondary professions are working again, although many are still very wonky and spotty. Engineering can be trained again for new characters. Previously, only the second rank could be learned. Archaeology and new profession stuff is still NYI - kinda. Alliance has an archaeology trainer, but Horde does not (yet) and even the Alliance one doesn't do anything. Some professions (namely tailoring) may have new patterns available for training on Dalaran trainers. User Interface: Spell flyouts are working entirely now, including mage portal/teleport flyouts. A new option for which monitor WoW should run on has been added to the video options, as well as a few settings for the maximum framerate CVARs (still a work in progress). A new UI scale dropdown was added, but it doesn't seem to make any sense and does strange things. You may want to avoid this one for now. A new indicator was added below the minimap to indicate when the client was downloading/streaming content. It doesn't appear to work properly quite yet, but it's hard to tell. Edit: Added info about Soothe in the Druid notes. Edit 2: Added info about Fungal Growth in the Druid notes.
  24. For those who opted in and were lucky enough to be selected for beta, we do have a guild on Lost Isles named "The Misfits". I carried the name over from a raid bank/silly alt guild that Maube and I have on AD, in case you're curious Everyone can invite to the guild, so just /who and whisper any of us. Also, please join the "MisfitsAD" channel, just in case you lose guild chat for some reason (it happens) or miss one of us when you log in on your characters. We still can't see anything with /chatinfo, but at least you can see who logs in that way. I'm often on an alt rather than Verissi (GM), so it's easier to coordinate through the chat channel than trying to wait for me to swap over randomly. The guild bank is currently bugged, so I can't enable it for more than a few minutes at a time, but I'll work on that when those bugs are fixed. Additionally, many other guild features aren't quite working, so you may not have access to things like the ginvite ability or officer chat (which we never use) until I can get promotions to stick. There's also a new guild UI that does not open when you hit O. To open it, click the Social button in the minibar to the right of your main action bar. It's quite nice, so play around with it. If you run across any information that should be added to the guild info or just want to change the message of the day, go for it. Those permissions should work for officers, so don't be shy. Here's some tips, after doing this a few times before. I'll add more as I think of them and keep the guild info above current as things get fixed. General tips before copying your characters over: Gold generally means nothing on beta servers, but it does come in handy for conveniences and due to bugs (you'll respec A LOT and probably buy mounts and crap for your new alts). To help with this, try to combine all of your alts' money on live on the character you're going to copy before you copy them. Give it time to "settle" too, waiting a few hours at the very least before copying. I usually do this while the client is downloading after my invite. If you think you might want any crafting materials or enchants, the same thing is applicable - move them all over to whichever character you will be copying. Emblem exchanging does not work on the beta servers (and didn't in alpha either, so it's unlikely to change). If you think you might want heirlooms, pick them up on your live character, then copy that character over with them. Premades are available for copy. They come with 5k gold and jewelcrafting/enchanting as professions, as well as a ton of mats for each. Unless you have some real need to actually play a premade, they're great disposable copies when you need more cash or Wrath-level crafting materials. Other tips: Glyph vendors are located in Dalaran at the Inscription shop. You can only buy glyphs for your class and must see the class-specific vendor to do so. Battered Hilts are also on there (and free), but it's not worth doing unless you're interested in the quest chain itself (far better weapons in the new zones). Please read and use the forums (and the proper forums) if you run across a bug or have a suggestion. In the past few builds, the in-game feedback UI hasn't worked, and there is a ton of valuable info on the forums anyway. Don't be shy, this isn't the live forums. The NDA was lifted when alpha ended, so feel free to talk about what you see with your friends or post screenshots/whatever. Talking about datamined info on the beta forums is frowned upon, though, so pretend MMO-Champ doesn't exist when commenting there. Patience! You'll run across some show-stopper bugs from time to time. Talents not working, skills disappearing, inability to buy mounts or training, etc. Just be patient and wait for a fix...or roll one of the new class combos or races to mess around in the meantime. There's a LOT of new content in Azeroth to test at all levels anyway (and it rocks). Addons are currently disabled and have been for some time. The /run command has as well, so you'll have to deal with the default interface and for folks like me, handle life without some of the more convenient macros. It's a good thing, though, since a lot of the default UI is being redesigned. New graphics features and how to use them: The video options pane was recently redesigned and has a few new things added to it. Check it over slowly and definitely try the various settings out. Note that some of the options are "iffy" as to whether or not they're working properly right now (works for me, but the forums tell a different tale). If you have issues with a setting that's really screwing your graphics up, but the video options don't work to help fix it, let me know and I can pass along the console command to do the same thing. There are a few new things being added to the builds here and there that are worth playing with, though. Some of them are "tech tests" to help Blizzard figure out viability/maturity of potential features for release. Others are a bit more definite, though. Here are a few notable new features that may not be in the video settings that you can try out, along with how to enable/disable them (all new features taken from this thread, but not including all of them here since some are still a bit mysterious or VERY quirky; there are also a few more not listed in the thread, but they're even more unknown/buggy): DirectX 11 support (really shader models 4 and 5 support, for DX10/11 cards/drivers): Description:This is a Windows-only feature and only worth trying if you have a DX10 or DX11-capable card/driver set. Folks on older cards can try it, but it may not do much (if anything) for you. I've seen some areas where this increases my framerate and others where it decreases it. YMMV. [*]Known issues: Multisampling values > 1 will cause very frequent crashes in the game client, so keep multisampling at 1 for the time being to be safe. Some map chunk and graphical bugs seem to crop up from time to time with this enabled. If it's excessive or you run into frequent trouble, best to disable DX11 support until it's a bit more mature and the graphical issues get worked out. I'm a "dare to try" person, but not everyone is. [*]Enabling DX11 support (type in the chat window, then quit/restart the client): /console gxapi d3d11 [*]Disabling DX11 support (type in the chat window, then quit/restart the client; returns the setting to default): /console gxapi d3d9 [*]Monitor selection (NOTE: Build 12803 added this to the video options): Description:For those of us with multiple monitors, you can set which monitor you wish WoW to run in now (thank goodness!). I haven't tried it yet, but this will come in handy for people who frequently have several installs running at once (for me, it's PTR and live most often). It's also nice for anyone who has two monitors, but their "default" is the smaller one. [*]Known issues: None [*]Enabling (type in the chat window, then quit/restart the client): /console gxmonitor X (where X is the monitor number that you wish to start the client on) [*]Disabling: Not totally sure since I haven't tried it yet, but deleting the appropriate line (containing gxMonitor) from the Config.wtf file should work. Be sure to close the client before editing this file. [*]Water reflection "detail levels": Description:This controls what types of things are reflected on the surface of bodies of water. After turning this on, I have never disabled it...it's very nice and adds some realism to the scenery when water and terrain are present. This does impact performance, though, so start with a lower value and work your way up if you want to see the differences and check the performance on your machine. [*]Known issues: This only works with the new water effects enabled in the video options (to my knowledge) Aside from the performance hit (which varies), the only issue I've found is related to how WoW's graphics engine constructs scenery and determines the PoV for object occlusion/clipping. If you have shadows enabled on the live client and have noticed that things outside of a building are casting shadows inside of the building you're standing in, it's the same basic thing. Small price to pay, but it can be freaky at times. [*]Setting values: 0 = Standard/no reflections 1 = Reflect the skybox (sky) 2 = Reflect the skybox, terrain, and world objects (like buildings, but not necessarily things like trees) [*]Enabling/altering the settings (type in the chat window; unsure if a client restart is needed, but if you don't see a change immediately, restart the client): /console reflectionmode X (where X is the setting value, as listed above) [*]Water ripple render range: Description:The new water effects include adding some ripples ("noise") to make it appear less like plastic and more realistic. This setting controls how near/far the client renders the rippling effect, or if it renders it at all. [*]Known issues: This only works with the new water effects enabled in the video options (to my knowledge) [*]Setting values: 0 = Off (default) 1 = Short range 2 = Longer range [*]Enabling/altering the settings (type in the chat window; unsure if a client restart is needed, but if you don't see a change immediately, restart the client): /console rippleDetail X (where X is the setting value, as listed above)
  25. Couple of general bugs that I've found that aren't huge, but figured I'd post them anyway: Artisan First Aid is bugged Once you learn it from the trainer, you won't be able to open your first aid crafting window any more. Took me ages to figure this one out (four builds now?), but I finally nailed it down specifically to the Artisan rank last night. Journeyman Riding is unavailable for goblins, questionably available for other races I noticed it on the unavailable list for my Tauren priest (still 31), but Vench (goblin rogue) doesn't see it at all at 43. I'll double-check that it's still there and trainable for Tauren when shadowmoo gets to 40. Worgen and a few Tauren paladins are reporting that they could learn it, so it may just be a goblin-specific issue. Town-In-A-Box is Town-In-A-Box-Of-Invisible-Walls Phases of TIAB apparently include invisible walls that prevent goblins from entering after leaving. There are ways around it, but it's possible to get stuck in there, so it's better to be safe and wait to start a new goblin until this gets fixed. If you're feeling brave, a subtlety rogue can shadowstep back in, but it's tricky. Can't open the talent panel on level 10+ characters that existed before this build Happened to shadowmoo and seems most common with priests. I had to respec, then relog before it let me open the talent window again. Thankfully, it was just a one-time thing and it's been fine since I did that. Secondary professions (cooking, first aid, fishing) think they're primary professions Tried learning cooking and it gave me the confirmation window that said I was learning a primary profession. Best to wait this out and just not learn any secondary professions if you can help it until it's fixed. The professions are wonky right now anyway, so you're not missing much. Dropping a primary profession doesn't...drop it Relog after confirming that you want to unlearn it. When you come back in after the relog, the profession tab should properly update to reflect the change. Glyphs are REALLY screwed up Right now, any glyph spell you apply to any glyph slot goes into the top major glyph slot, overwriting whatever was there before. Trying to apply a minor glyph doesn't work at all. Known issue that will hopefully be cleared up in the next build. Spell flyouts aren't quite working right This applies to the mage portal and teleport flyouts, but might apply to the hunter pet flyout as well. The only ones that seem to work when clicking in the flyouts are the two that remain in the spell book independently (Shattrath and Dalaran). You can shift-drag the spell you want out of the flyout and onto an action button and it will work from there in the meantime.
